ALL things Rooney PLEASE! [Merged]

Re: Rooney and the legal implications

It seems to me that far from rags suing rooney, the opposite is true.

I think the lawyers call it ‘constructive dismissal’ – you make your employee’s life so miserable that his employment becomes untenable and, even though he leaves, he has effectively been sacked.

What has Shrek done (bagging a few grans and slappers aside) that required taggart to come out in public in a way which has exposed rooney to the most vile abuse from the rag faithful? Rooney did NOT say ‘I’m not going to honour the contract I’m on’, he said he wasn’t going to sign a new one. Why does that justify United’s management in vilifying him in public the way that they have done?

If he walked from the swamp, I think it would be a tough call to say that taggart hadn’t made his employment untenable.

Re: Rooney and the legal implications

Wasn't it Ferguson, rather than Rooney, who actually made this 'public' at his press conference by confirming that Rooney had asked to leave? Can't see how that can be Rooney's fault.

Re: Rooney and the legal implications

You couldnt make this up. There best player and only really big remaining star name says publically he wants to leave as they cant compete anymore or afford to sing the best players.

Cant see how he can play for them again really. He better make sure his security is up to scratch as well.

Re: Rooney and the legal implications

I don't think it matters as they are his opinions and protected under free speech and human rights legislation.

Re: Rooney and the legal implications

This all boils down to another media mistake by Slur Baconface. He fooked up when he had a dig at Coolmore and now this one. It may have been sanctioned by Gill but I think we all now that the scotchman calls the shots at the swamp don't we?

Can the mods merge every Rooney articles into one?

I know it could be the first thread to officially 'meltdown' and achieve 10,000 pages but it's just so annoying coming on here everyday now to see a full page of Rooney articles, there are probably more United related articles than on the rag forums! Everything else gets swamped by it.

I also realise that all of the forum smartarses will be out in force saying that this is a thread about Rooney but if it means one more to get rid of the rest it's worth it!

Personally Im made up that fergusons golfing mate Stretford Rooney's agent , has shown what a charlatan he really is by turning him over the way they both engineered Rooneys departure from Everton .... I really hope City buy him for about £100m because Everton get 25% of the profit over £24m ... = £19m for Moyes to spend .. add that to the £10m we'e getting for the sale of the old training ground ... Thats either one overrated mickey mouse player ( Robinho) for City or a Premier League winning team for Moyes ,

A bit of wee came out I laughed so hard at that last bit!

Re: Rooney and the legal implications

Unless you've read his contract, you can't possibly know what breaches have been committed and what remedies are available for breach. The few prem players' contracts I have seen were remarkably thin, but they were not for A list players. I imagine Rooney's contract is a bit fuller.

But anyway, damages for breach is completely irrelevant. If they impose disciplinary sanctions under the contract, they will be pretty trivial financially (I believe there is an FA rule limiting the number of weeks' wages a player can be fined by the club) because the lad is worth a bob or two and could afford to go without a few weeks' wages.

If they decide not to play him and/or seek to pee him off further (big damages for breach (if possible) more antagonistic press conferences etc) then he can simply sulk until the summer (probably on full wages) when (we all think) he can buy himself out for £5m and be a free agent. He can't just be sold to the highest bidder in January - he has to agree to go. Their nightmare is if he doesn't co-operate and refuses to leave in January. If they pee him off big time, they could be stuck with him and lose out big time financially.

After all, buyers next summer won't care if he hasn't played a competitive match for 6 months - he has undoubted ability and could regain match fitness.

You've just made coffee come out of my nose....thank you sir!

Re: All things Rooney! [Merged]

We won't sign him anyway so it doesn't really matter to be honest. Its nice to see the rags riled by the thought of it but in all likelyhood he'll probably get the deal he wants at United or will sign for Real Madrid. I know they have to think about the sister, but at the end of the day Spain is only two hours away on a plane and the club has more prestige than ours.

Or, the more likely scenario, a new holiday home for Kenwright.

Re: Can the mods merge every Rooney articles into one?

why don't you just not click on the rooney threads if you don't like em......i personally hate merged threads as there are far too many pages to get through and sometimes different stories all get mixed up in 1 thread just because it's about the same player.

More prestige 'at the moment' if you don't mind. But, yes, I'm not sure why the issue of Colleen's sister has become so prevalent. I've said for six months that he's off to Real [Benzema the other way?] and so I'll stick to that. I just keephoping this drags on and on, so that before you know it their season will be over.

Nited have to sell

Not getting into the why and why nots, just that we all know when taggart digs his heels in he's a stubborn old codger, Rooney will never pull on the rag shirt again.
This means yoonited have to sell him, which means his price will be lower, they'll have to take the highest bid, even if it falls well short of their valuation of the player.
They can't exactly fall back on, "we'll let him rot in the stiffs, we don't need the money", because if ever there was a club that was skint, it's them right now.
I personally don't think City need him, but I don't run the team or the club !
