All Time Top 1100 Albums (Aerosmith - Big Ones) P265

Shame it's not Aerosmith's Greatest Hits that got selected: that is a 10/10.

The 'Smiths had great sucess in their second coming, particularly thanks to a string of power ballad's. And, that is the unfortunate aspect of Big Ones: fine examples of the power ballad they may be but Aeromsith are best when they are kicking ass. As a hard rock 'n' roll band, they are almost as good as anything the U.S. has produced; prior to Van Halen's arrival, they were America's finest, their 70's albums are wonderful.

The new track that opened this album is a decent addition to the canon and the first six tracks, even the ballad, are rather good. All the rockers are decent and better than most bands can muster but the Cleaned-up Twins just ain't the Toxic Twins. "The Other Side" does deserve a special mention though.

7/10

I have this album and the companion video collection ‘Big Ones You Can Look At’
I’m always torn about their Geffen period because it’s when I first got into them and I then worked backwards to the classic stuff. John Kalodner definitely took their edge away in exchange for the ballads and memorable choruses but it brought them back from the dead and introduced a lot of people to them who did like me and listened to Rocks, Toys etc. 7/10.

My introduction was "Rocks", when it was released. It became and remians one of my favourite albums, another 10/10.

This for me as well. Though there are some great tunes on here apart from the hit ballads. Walk On Water and Livin' On The Edge are great songs.

Oh...an 8/10 for me. Got me into old Aerosmith...which can only be a good thing.

Strange choice having a compilation album, for any artist. I know all the songs as I adore Aerosmith, they really were unbeatable in pure rock'n'roll, swagger, rhythm, boogie etc. Before Pump anyway. If you listen to anything then stick Rocks on - if your toes ain't movin then I'm afraid you're dead!

Yeh I thought it was odd to have a compilation thrown in this list

Had a busy week (two consecutive days in the office!) but I'll be on this, OB1's pick and BimboBob's playlist tomorrow.
