There's investigative reporting, which is important and there's newspapers trying to make news by setting people up. There's been all the fake sheik crap in the news recently which is a good example.

Some people will say and do things in certain environments that they wouldn't necessarily do, maybe playing bertie big bollocks or whatever.

Had I read something that Allardyce had said that was clearly dodgy then I'd have a different view. In my opinion he was a dick for going to the meeting, and yes, he's a greedy twat but what has he actually done wrong (other than being a greedy dick).

The fact that the paper haven't printed anything about the other 10 managers suggests that none of them did anything wrong either, but the paper have spent a fortune trying to get a story that wasn't there so embarrassing Fat Sam is better than nothing. They've got plenty of headlines so something out of nothing.

I presume the FA pays tax on its earnings so I presume they employ tax consultants who try to ensure they pay as little tax as possible ie tax avoidance not tax evasion.

As I read it Sam A. has been offering his services to do a similar job to a tax consultant by indicating ways to negotiate rules to advantage.

Which ever way this pans out it is going to almost certainly going to leave the rank and file of the English population with the impression that Allardyce is dodgy. Its difficult to see how the FA could justify having such a person as its national team manager. Its not what would be seen as a great example to the youngsters really is it. True we had Venables but his dodgy dealings saw him out of the door, and we had Sven shagging everything that moved, but by and large England managers have been on the surface at least reasonably upstanding folks.

I could not see anygood coming out of his appointment whatsoever. I am surprised all this has come out so soon and a little surprised by the nature of all this.

Mind you I am quite surprised how he and Sunderland seemed to have got off almost flak free from the Adam Johnson to do. Neither come out of that with much credit at all.
