Allsvenskan 25/26

That said on talksport this morning this is akin to Leicester winning the 15/16 PL. I’d say it’s more like Oxford United or something like that.
Completely agree it is used as the closest reference that is tangible in the Premier League.

This more the equivalent of Barnton FC winning the premier league and having chance to break the points record as well.

Leicester has population of 200k people and has wealthy Thai backers.

Hällevik where Mjällby plays does not even have grocery store. The guy in charge of recruitment worked up until last month as part-time postman. They had 2nd smallest budget in the league.

Yeah what is left to fight for is

The final European spot 3rd in the league between:

GAIS, Malmö, AIK and IFK Göteborg

To stay in the league and avoid relegation playoff

Norrköping, Öster, Degerfors
Thank you for all the excellent news and coverage of treatment matches.
Can the Swedish League get a 4th place for Europe ?
Thanks...

Such a mad league. As an adopted Hammarby fan, is it not a sad indictment on teams like that? With such a strong fan base that Mjaellby can do what they done when Bajen haven’t won the league in 20 odd years

Wow!

That’s an incredible list of accomplishments.

Just clarify that is the records they can break. They have only broken away wins.

Points record and most wins feels like they can achieve.
Yeah, I realised that, but for such a small club / village, it’s amazing that they are within striking distance of so many records.

This what I realy like about Allsvenskan. It is only here and in the the 2 Bundesligas where the 50+1 rule is applied. It is only in this league where it truly works. Yes sure Malmö has won a lot of times but they have also been relegated. Djurgården has won a few times but have also been releagated. Other teams from then smaller towns have won the league like Åtvidaberg, Öster, Halmstad and Elfsborg? Smaller teams have qualified for Europe like Trelleborg and Degerfors.

This is just the icing on the cake. A club run by its hard working members have pulled together and formed a forge with the board and the players.

Btw did you know that allsvenskan is the only league that rejected VAR. All the clubs said no to it.

I didn’t know that.

Thanks again for all this really interesting information about an exciting and unique League.
Can the 4th team in the League potentially get a European Conference League or Conference place ?

The league was close to getting an extra spot last year, but in the end the coefficient was not quite enough.so they have

1 Champions League qualifying spot
1 Europa League qualifying spot
1 Euro Conference qualifying spot

The Swedish teams had decent results in europe last night they were unlucky to draw

Malmö against Dinamo Zagreb
and
Häcken against Rayo Vallencano

Thank you.
That's a shame, as there is a close race for 3rd place, so a 4th European place would be a good consolation...

Other great stories to come out of this league victory is that this win was really big news in Pakistan.

Historically they have been woeful and ranked at the same level as Guam or Gibraltar despite their large population. However at Mjällby they have found the face of football in the country. Iqbal probably the best defender currently in the league and the captain of Pakistan, has become the first player to win the any half decent European league.

Second story relates to the winners of the Chilean league Coquimbo Unido. They have also had an underdog story in their league. They play in yellow and black and it is fishing town like Mjällby. Their nickname is El barbon or piratas (bearded man or pirates). Some of their fans started following Mjällby during the midseason break. When Mjällby player Tom Petterson went on a scorinf spree and celebrated like this

The were sure it was sign (bearded man and pirates’s patch), so they started folloing Mjällby’s games online. They also wanted Tom to score to give their club luck and fortune.
