Am I just being a bad loser?

THINGS THAT GET THROWN AT US

We’ve got no fans… well we don’t have as many as some, and as far as I can see that’s mainly because they were successful at a time when football became more global and money entered the game on a massive scale.

We have no history… everything is history, not just trophies. Everyone has a story, League 2 was part of ours, and our story does include trophies, some that we won before they had any themselves, but a reason why we don’t have as many as some is the same as the above.

It’s just oil money… to compete properly at the top, we had to spend big, we had to spend more than we have and more than we generate. We’ve probably broken some rules along the way, as well as being clever about it, but I don’t care that we’ve broken rules that are there partly to keep the status quo.

IN THE NAME OF COMPETING
We need to generate as much money as possible to compete, and the ownership will find ways to top it us as best they can. But part of needing to be bigger means we’ve had to change as a club, we’ve had to get more money in.

I was at Wembley for the FA CUP semi-final, we were very quiet and I didn’t like it. The attendance was 73,000 and the empty seats were on our side. Behind the goal tried a bit, but otherwise it was pretty dead.
I wasn’t at the old Wembley in 99 when the attendance was 76,000 but I know which I would rather be at, I know the City fans on each occasion were very different and I know who I’d rather go to watch my team with.

WHAT WOULD YOU RATHER WIN?
We’ve all been asked this a lot in recent weeks - EPL or UCL? And I used to say the League. But last week I decided that I don’t actually care. It got to a point where I just wanted us to stop them getting all 4 but I don’t even care about that now. Even if we win the league, the national conversation will be about how close they were to all 4, how good they are, what history they have, how pure their fans are. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
And I really don’t care. They are unbearable. Worse than the other lot ever were.

WHO’S UP FOR THE PLAY OFFS?
I’m glad we did it. I’m glad we upset it for a bit, I enjoyed getting Tevez, I went mental at 93:20 and Kompany of course and plenty more along the way, but right now, I think I’m happy to get off the ride. I’d rather we now accepted our fan base is local and loyal and blue to the bone, was there in League 2 and are still there today - but we don’t need loads of others if it changes who we are.
Changing our club to try and compete with national treasures, amidst that constant, nationwide conversation, just isn’t worth it. I’d rather be somewhere between Notts Forest and Leicester. Competing for Europe one season, fighting off relegation a few seasons later, going down, and battling to come back up. But doing it all as one blue family. I miss it. I wish that that my son’s don’t see that City.
It almost feels like that’s where we should be. It’s rubbish of course, because like I said earlier, the ‘big’ teams are only where they are because they were there when it went global, and money came in, securing their position forever. But I’d rather we had our soul than lost it to win trophies.

But I’ll still be gutted if we don’t get Haaland. Come back and ask me in 12 months.
Go and buy one of these and rekindle your love of football in the non fucking league

What a bizarre post.

So you'd rather we were shit again?
Yes essentially.

Football for me is more than winning. It’s about our club, us fans, our spirit, the laughs, the ups and downs.

I don’t like losing that in order to be winners.

Sadly at 59 , my current hate for all things scouse, real madrid and ronaldo fan boys dictates that your key point is way off and you need to get a new hobby. After the spurs effort tonight my love of city goes up a notch. Ive had a Leeds fan take the piss this week. Our players, manager have been outstanding for 2-3 yrs now and the prem title is the least ( eg fernandinho) deserves.

Jeezus you did not hold back sir. No I'm not I've watched us since the 70's win or lose have a booze. It's only a game the past 10 years have been brilliant. But league 2 was great too. I'd love City if we were in the conference

None of the things that bother you I give one fuck about.

Travelling to aways, speaking to fans of other teams at work none really spout that shite and normally have a good word to say for us and fans, the only people who believe that bullshit are those who have never set foot in a ground more than 3-4 times.

Empty seats jibe - so fucking what, I am not ashamed of any seat not occupied in pur ground to even try and defend this bollocks.

No history - I know our, blues/berts/legacy fans, whatever a city fan calls himself know our history, if others don't want to learn it to have an intelegent football discussion well they propably ain't worth talking to anyway so fuck em.

Well it's just oil money - well so fucking what, I never cared how many tellys Swales sold to buy trevor francis, I don't care what our income streams are now as long as legal and anyone obsessed with it needs to look up rotten meat, funding/arming terrorists, russian gansters and the blood diamond trade then at the 4 other clubs classed as elite in the prem, oil money pfft who fucking cares.

Laughed at when shite, slagged off when good, either way we have always had some negative or patronising press and opinions.

I mean how much of a **** was Elton Welsby every week on granada with snide digs.

Social media makes it seem more greater, but sociap media is full of bellends and **** tbh.

Don't take this the wrong way.
But you are fucking strange.
How is it strange that football to me is about more than winning?

Football fans of teams up and down the country watch their teams week in week out without ever winning the champions league or premier league. They obviously enjoy it for something else.

To get to the point where we are winning things consistently, the club has had to change. And some of that I don’t like. I’m suggesting I don’t always like that trade off.

The vast majority of Liverpool fans were stood up and sang for 90 minutes at Wembley and we hardly made a noise. We just don’t have that in us anymore, but I’m convinced we did once, I’m convinced it’s in there somewhere. Most games at the Etihad are pretty quiet, even big games - maybe that’s the same most places these days. Maybe I’m just reminiscing about Maine Road and times when trips to Wembley were rare. But there was definitely something sweet about beating United with Richard Dunne and Danny Tiatto when they had Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand.
