A heads up for anyone using these, check you don't have automatic updates enabled.
Amazon have been under pressure from the big companies to stop piracy and it appears they've started to do something about it.
There will probably be a workaround though.

Thanks for the heads up.

Don't think there is a way to disable OS updates but disabled the automatic app updates just in case that helps.

If this is the end of the Firestick then so be it. It's been a good run and now in the off season would be a perfect time for a replacement to be sourced and ready for August.

Well they tried to hide the developers app opt out but that was worked around but thanks for HU

They will never sell another firestick, it does nothing my smart tv doesn't do, except why people buy them

Question for the tech savvy

I just bought a new TCL Google smart tv. Can I get/buy dodgy apps straight on the tv like you can on a firesick?

If it runs Android TV then yes definitely. Sony TVs definitely do. LGs don't so might be trickier for them etc

Yes that is a new feature that is advised to be turned off but that makes no difference to third party apps being blocked. As stated above, you can't stop the OS updating.

There's always a work around to be found on YouTube. I use a fire stick and also my android TV for watching stuff. Don't make the mistake of buying a non android TV which as far as I'm aware can't download 'dodgy' apps, which I unfortunately did.

If they have apps with files iCloud options you can
