Amazon prime

Exactly this, AWS is basically a license to print cash for them. The profit margin is huge. It is why they can do food at a loss and if needs be the football. AWS makes enough to prop up all their other business avenues. Their investors also have no desire for quick profits, they understand the long term strategy of Amazon and are perfectly happy with how it is all going so no pressure from that either. In 10 years time Amazon food will be profitable along with any other current loss making ventures they have. The idea some have that Amazon will fail is imo well wide of the mark. They will get stronger and stronger.

Some very insightful posting TCIB

The choice of games is appealing and the ability to mute commentary is also a useful tool.

Like many though, I've had some blurred pictures, and it is of course, 90 seconds behind. On boxing Day I knew goals had gone in before I'd seen it.

It is what it is but it's a platform that needs some refinement before it takes off.

I'm probably missing the point, but why do people have goal alerts for games they're watching?
I don’t understand this either. Just put your phone down for 90 minutes. I don’t check my phone at the match so I don’t when I’m watching at home. And I don’t give a fuck about other games. Check at half/full time. My picture was perfect and if there was a minute delay I was non the wiser!

Amazon are just dipping their toe into the market and last night was their last game of the season. They can hardly rustle up a brand new set of commentators and pundits for just two rounds of games so we would have to see how they do if they got a serious package of games in the next round of bidding in a couple of years.

What you can say is that what they have done so far shows that a streaming only option is viable and maybe it has signalled the end of football being delivered by Sky. Maybe dishes will go the way of CDs & DVDs?

IMO they should always have at least 1 each for whatever teams are playing, they can have their main presenters around but it should be a fair and balanced approach, that is the lesson they should be learning from SKY/BT and the complaints they receive.

Agreed. But the fact is they have two rounds of games which are now finished so it clearly isn't fair to judge on this alone.

Well it was only worth mentioning due to the drop off from match one, which has to be said was a breath of fresh air for City fans, of course we were thinking our docu tie in with them was the reason but it was just back to the norm last night.

Don't get me wrong I hope they take it on, it costs me nothing extra as we are prime members already.

They'll bump up the prices once they get more games.
