TBF the circumstances with Panama are not quite that different than these. However, an American serviceman killed by a mob was a catalyst, and obviously concerns about control of the canal were paramount. Ironically it was Seymour Hersh (who many on the right hate) who broke the story about Noriega’s drug escapades.Is the old Monroe Doctrine still a thing in the United States ?
I recall them turfing Noriega out of Panama and before that invading Grenada. They really do see the Americas as their “back yard”.
