This is brinkmanship. The Americans know they need to leak information regarding invasion plans that show a willingness to go to war.

The casualty rate would be horrific and I don't think the US people would tolerate it. They would be going alone as our parliament would not pass us tagging along. Even Tories would baulk at this.

I am not worried by this. It's part of the psychology of stand off.

Yep, it's called war gaming, and like you, I'd be stunned if North Korea wasn't pretty high up on their list of practice targets!

A ground offensive is the very last thing the US would mount against North Korea, precision strikes with battlefield nukes will be the order of the day if they do anything, which I doubt..!

I just read the Guardian story. It is true. The only way to completely destroy the nuclear program would be a ground invasion. That being said, the only way to destroy the British, American, French, Russian, Iranian, etc nuclear programs would be a ground invasion. Air bombings wouldn't suffice.

You might me interested to know, the USA has concrete plans drawn up for it's military to invade, Canada, Great Britain, France and it's other close allies. It is part of what they call the "Three Bears" approach. If things go south they have a soft, medium, and hard way of dealing with the situation. Other nations probably do as well.

Lieu's kind of a dick and not exactly a voice of reason. Both the left and right have their straight up cunts. Lieu is one of them.

The North Koreans are not developing their own nuclear weapons, much of the technology is imported from China or stolen by hackers. This is why the pressure is being turned up on China because it is them driving the program more or less.

The reason NK has yet to demonstrate an air launched nuclear weapon is because China won't sell them one. What they have demonstrated so far is a low grade 1960's technology bomb and tin cans with Chinese rocket motors attached to them. They don't even have a satellite that is able to guide the weapons let alone a weapon itself, if they did ever get that kind of technology for weapons use then the US would of blown it out the sky.

Starving them of resources is going to go far better than a ground assault or similar which we would inevitably lose given the North Koreans have one of the largest ground forces in the world. The US is only saying these things to ensure the heat remains on China particularly who have so far been prepared to deal with them.

The closer the investigation into Trump and the Russians gets, the more likely him starting a war gets. The man is all about distraction and wouldn't give two shits about how many people died as a result, just so long as it helped him
