American Blues

im actually from london but im moving to San Francisco the day after tommorow. worried there might not be any coverage of matches... ESPN?? HELLP!!!

Not to worry. I live an hour south of San Francisco. There's a great pub called "Mad Dog in the Fog" in the Haight District that shows matches. Plus, you can get Fox Soccer and Fox Soccer Plus on cable or satellite and see 90% of City matches in your own living room. ESPN shows some too.

I've been following City since 93 and in some ways actually miss the "Yo-Yo" years when we were always playing for survival or promotion rather than this boring 4th place/5th place melodrama!

Similar story for me... Gallagher brothers in their Brother shirts plastered all over NME at the time made City an obvious choice. First match (via satellite, of course) was a derby vs. Man Utd in 1996 at the Abbey Pub, at the time just about the only place in Chicago that showed English matches. On TV at home was a pipe dream, and peer-to-peer streaming? Not on a 14.4k modem...

Tell me about it, growing up in backwoods Wisconsin, trying to find scores for City in league 2? Good luck, it was an adventure.

Philadelphia checking in .City since 1978 Maine Rd. Derby Cty 2 mcfc 1. Might havehad more funat that match than any other time in my life. Being a Philly guy, was great just to see people living and dying with every play, but in the end just enjoying a good time with friends and accepting the " typical city" result afterward off to the pub for several pints and twice as many laughs with blues I had met 3 hours prior, 2 of whom I am still in contact with today. See you all at COMS for the Villa Match. United can sit on it and spin.

There's a bunch of Philadelphians here....which makes sense cause what attracted me to City is I could relate to the pain being a Philly sports fan. It really goes hand in hand. Along with both sets of fans probably caring too much, lol.

From Milwaukee, Wisconsin now in Waco, Texas however. Started watching FSC when it was known as Fox Sports World in 2002, took a few months to get my feet underneath me and make a grounded decision for who I would support. Chose City because it fit the profile of American teams I supported, the little guy fighting the big evil rival and because I was immediately drawn to the flair of Shaun Wright-Phillips. Been following desperately ever since. Gutted that I don't currently have any extra money to go see City play this summer, really wish they had given the middle of the country a game as well but maybe some time in the future they'll be back and I'll see them then.

City fan up in Boston. I'm trying to organize the Blues in the area, but unfortunately I won't be able to catch of the matches in the States, as I'm across the pond in Europe.

Great to hear of so many Yank Blues and expats in the States. I've travelled extensively down the Eastern Seaboard and around the South. I've got relatives just south of Atlanta who used to live north of Boston, and a cousin in Houston- she's over in Manchester for a month at present.

i'm assuming you're drawing the comparison between city and the brewers. tortured history of winning shit. but that just makes it sweeter when the winning actually comes (brewers wild card in 2008).

I moved from Wythenshawe 3 years ago to Rochester, NY. I'm heading down to the Inter game so if anyone knows where people will be having a couple of pints before the game please let me know.

They upped the minimum posts required to start a thread so I haven't been able to post about it.

For the guy moving to San Francisco. If you've got cable over here you can get to see most games on either ESPN, Setanta or Fox Soccer Channel. You're going to be getting up pretty early!
