The thread was talking about Americans and the prevalence of men hugging, especially with the clapping on the back comes from the African American community for Americans. Had the thread been discussing that subject for Ireland, Scotland, parts of Portugal, etc I could see your point. If you need me to walk you through some other examples I could do that.

I am assuming your exposure to Irish Americans is rather limited. I don't typically see non related men hugging hello. There probably are some that do it but I'd say it is limited.What about the Irish American community then?
