Best way to deal with them would be threaten to sue, agree a compensation amount, and then donate the money to Charity. Then have a big glossy photo in the paper showing the donation.

As I understand it the paper can print any shit they want, if you show it to be shit and threaten to sue they just print an apology and in the majority of cases thats it. To sue (and win) Joe would have to prove his image had been harmed and ask to be compensated for the amount of harm he had suffered. The sun would just say it didn't harm him financially, they have apologised and that should be the end, as I understand it thats what most courts would agree. He has not suffered loss of earnings, his England-club place or anything else so tough and the scummy sun get away with it.
This was one of the main points of the Levenson inquiry. Those that were wronged wanted the apology to be as large and on the same page as the original lie was printed. Needless to say they didnt get that bit. It has been said before, the sun only prints shit 'cos people (blues) buy it. So just stop buying it.

Picked up a copy of this rag today on a train,the apology was tucked away at the bottom of a inside page,I can understand the calls for the apology to be given the same space as the original story.
