Well, I must've been on a different trip.
Had a brilliant time from start to finish, with good people, respected the locals, got drunk with a few of 'em, enjoyed great Tapas on the beach and had no bother with any of the local plod "oooh, look at those scary riot police in their balaclava's and they've got batons and stuff". Come on, get real, GMP are probably worse than this lot. I thought the policing was low key and the way they tried to confiscate the footies in the square was hilarious. I didn't see baton charges, beating's or a single arrest. Yes, we were held back a bit, funnelled in the direction they wanted us to go and they weren't exactly blowing kisses at us. But it's up to them how they do it, it's their town, so get over it.
If anything, the square was a bit flat, compared to Madrid, Lokeren etc..
Yes, a few idiots threw a couple of baguette's (and from my viewpoint, only a couple of coins), buts that's too many beers for you and unfortunately we've got a few knuckle-draggers.
For those who didn't go, trust me, there were FAR more good times had, than bad.
(Posted for balance and in the interest of any Blue thinking of not going abroad because it's so horrible).
