can't be doing with the old "celebrities pretending they are appalled" to try to convince us they are forced to do something. had the same from jack dee on bb.

if you don't want to go, don't go.
He's not really celebrity is he? He was basically forced to go by Gervais and Merchant. This is how he really is if you'd listened to the podcasts

only he wasn't was he? that's the point i'm making. the programme seems alright but the guff at the start is shite. why not just explain that he's shit abroad instead of the carry on that he has to go? some of the british public aren't as thick as the producers of these programmes think.

like i say, it seems alright now he's away.

He's said several times on the podcasts that he hates going abroad

But this isn't about a guy who doesn't want to be there per se.

This is about someone, who is sceptical and confused by even our most basic of customs, experiencing some of the most weird and wonderful around the world, and gauging his usual humorous reactions

I disagree. I like to think Karl knows exactly what he is doing because he is smarter than everyone else and is behind the whole thing.

Just a thought...

mate, i understand. i don't care what he said on the podcasts, the programme or whether he took out an advert in the times. they didn't force him to go. theyu got together and discussed an idea for a new programme. they said it'd be funny if we made out as if we were forcing you to go round the world because you hate travelling. what would they have done, sacked him?

Please just listen to some of the podcasts, or even the xfm radio shows from years ago. This is how he is.

This is about 7 years old

OK, he's not been forced round the world. That's not the point of the program though as bluemoon115 has said.

and the point i've made is that the programme seems decent. there is just no need to treat us as idiots by creating a scene where they 'force' him to go. he probably does hate going abroad.
i hate united but if someone paid me thousands of pounds to make a programme where i have to go to watch them for a season at old trafford and that was my job, i'd do it.
