well why would they do any different than ITV or any other broadcaster showing live games?

The difference is, ITV fund theirs by revenue from adverts, whereas us the licence payers are funding the BBC. I don't mind the regulars being out there, but all the additional pundits, pitchside reporters, radio presenters, bloggers etc is just a complete joke.

The bit about licence payers money, whilst inherently correct, doesn't tell the whole story, because the BBC sell lots of programmes to other networks and abroad so make lots of cash that way.

how many people have the bbc took over there, why are linekar, shearer, hanson and many more over there, all paid for of course, why are they not in a studio in london, as if these people arn't rich enough without getting everything laid on for them, really gets on my tits,
ESPN's done that, as well, tbf. They've sent all of their big WC presenters (Lee, Fowler - not that one, Tirico, Lalas, Harkes, Rae, etc. - to Jo'burg, and I imagine their other WC people (Martin Tyler, Steve McManaman, Roberto Martinez, Ian Darke, etc.) are probably there on ESPN's dime, too.

At least the ITV commentators have a bit of bottle. Southgate was questioning how good the England players really are and how good the Premiership is, when all the decent teams hardly have a Premiership player.

You won't get that from Hansen and his faithful sidekick Shearer. They are prepared to have a go at the manager but they will never question the talent - or the attitude - of the players.
You obviously didn't watch it yesterday then. They ripped the team to pieces.

could be worse, Chiles could be there!
Although, Mick Mccarthy is the WORST commentator ever...

"If this goes in, im willing to go and buy a hat, and eat it" haha

the bbc should do what tv stations in some other countries do. beam in the pictures but have all the commentators & pundits doing their stuff in the studio back home. job done.

The Guys in the Studio's off both Channels have all done very well in my opinion and special credit to Lineker who could barely contain his anger yesterday. Shearer who I am not a big fan of; also looked like we all felt. The foreign lads Davids, Radebe, Seedorf, Patrick and Ade have all been good and added to the shows.

Most of the commentators however are very poor and the summarisers at the Games - McCarthy, Coleman, Beglin and Lawrenson have been truly awful. Best ones on the Box - Lee Dixon ( no City bias from me) and Gareth Southgate.

As for the attacks on the BBC - this is how they should spend my Licence fee and not on second rate Antique, Cookery and House buying shows.

The BBC receives the licence fee as its revenue stream and is governed by the BBC Trust.

BBC Worldwide is the commercial arm of BBC, which doesn't directly receive licence fees, and sells programmes abroad e.g. Top Gear and Dr Who, just like any other private broadcaster.

Personally I don't have any problem with the presenters and reporters being there and would actually find it odd if they weren't there - how can they report on the news, atmosphere, behind-the-scenes things without being out there?

Why is Nicky Campbell presenting his Radio 5Live breakfast show from there? as he does at any sporting festival, Eurochampionships, World Cups, Olympics, does the BBC only have one set of recording equipment and they have to go where- ever they take it?

and while I'm at it........ Gabby Logan!! why is is this tokenesque freeloader anywhere near our game?

hansen's said about 10 positive things in the whole world cup.

I've only counted eight positive things Hansen has uttered since he hung up his boots.
