And so it begins...

Marquinhos is not a bad swap PSG were going to use him as makeweight for Dani Alves so if they are that interested in signing Yaya then they would be more receptive imho.

Tolmie, what do you fancy is Yaya's real motivation? Assuming he wants to go to PSG.

Money, location, or not wanting to have to put out the effort of fighting a brutal league campaign? (I'd guess some combination of all three)

My guess is that its nothing to do with location

I really do fear City could make this situation a lot worse by digging our heels in on Toure.

You don't keep players who don't want to stay. And not ones who have such a big say in the dressing room.

Rotten apple and all that.

Have to agree with this, I just wish Yaya wasn't being such a squinnying little woman about it.

Just put in a transfer request and forego your 10% Yaya, you are rich enough for fucks sake.

I reckon give Yaya (maybe plus up to £10m) for Thiago Silva, not that he would move, but you never know

well anyone at psg worth taking off them in exchange? verratti? pastore and moura?

Would take Lavezzi and Moura.

If we were really clever, Marquinos, who we wanted last summer.

That would then free up another £30m plus sales for a biggie.

I think Moura could potentially be brilliant within a few years with the right coach, got the pace, skill and build for it. On the topic of wingers, is there any glimmer of hope for Di Maria? Seems very unlikely but I think he's brilliant plus adaptable with being able to play in a midfield three as well as on the wing. Only seen PSG and United being very interested for crazy money (£40m+) and then got a little bit excited when people thought Di Maria was an option with the Heaven clue.

Marquinhos is another right footer though.

Would be happy to take 2 of Veratti, Lavezzi or Moura myself.

Can't help thinking this will end badly for City and to a lesser extent Toure.

I would go as far as to say that with the players we've signed, the Negredo situation apparently sorted, the biggest threat to our winning the league next season is Toure.

His loss would be huge but would be far worse would be a dragged out, public mud slinging that will drag till the end of August. It will finish with him looking like the biggest arsehole in football but at PSG while we have a hole in our midfield and £20m burning a hole in our pockets that can't be spent till January.

but surely ferran and the board know that?? should we not just tell psg £35-40m take it or leave it and call their bluff?

People need to remember that PSG are not in any rush.

Like us, they have a transfer restriction and have already spent the majority of it on Luiz.

The last thing they need to be doing is a favour to City, by splurging on Toure right now, whilst tipping off the rest of Europe that theythen need to raise X amount in outgoings to balance the books.

The longer they leave it, anyhow, the lower the price will be for a player who still has plenty of weeks for agitation.

If they know Toure wants to join them, they can sit on their hands.

A bit of inside info here, but PSG have decided that they don't give a shit about UEFA's restriction and have tabled a 60m euro bid for Di Maria. It was tabled on Sunday apparently, according to someone who I know here in Paris who works very centrally at PSG (I was actually asking him about Yaya & he said that a Yaya bid was not a priority for them as far as he knew, although they would take him if the opportunity came along).

I wonder if PSG have actually made an offer yet? The more I think about it, the more I'd be inclined to tell them to fuck off if and when they do.

In January we were rumoured (in the press) to be interested in Matuidi. The chairman of PSG? Can't remember his name, went ballistic, said they would tap our best players up, his language was very confrontational.

This is what it all boils down to imo, a bit of revenge on their part. If we give in to them and sell them Toure whose next to be tapped up in Qatar, so they can have a bit more revenge?

I wouldn't do business with them. I don't see how they will raise adequate funds, and if they do it will likely be so late in the window, we can't find a suitable replacement.

Tell Toure to give us one more year. If he keeps it shut, he can leave for a cut-price fee next Summer. He's probably not got long left at the very top level anyway, and would give us time to sort out his replacement.

Happy birthday to Tolmie!

The above makes sense in a lot of ways. IMO the only way we can make a deal work with PSG is a swap - though it's not easy to make swap deals work these days. Not sure who they'd let us have who'd best help us to fill the gap in the squad that Yaya would leave.

without selling and i don't think they have
if true, what could uefa do with such an overspend bearing in mind their restriction
could they say no sorry you can't have di maria as that would take you over your allowable limit?
i have no idea if PSG accepted their sanction as we did
