With Vincent Kompany and a veteran like MDM in place, you'd have to believe that a future of Mangala/Nastasic/Rekik looks pretty damned good at CB.

Certainly better than Evans/Jones/Smalling.

The only issue I have with that is all 3 are left footed, LCBs

you'd think that a top left-footed CB would be tougher to find/develop... i'm confident that several years (and titles) from now, when Vinnie is ready to hang up his cleats, even if the academy hasn't found his heir, Txiki will have.

Don't get the fascination with "left/right footed" partnerships, we won the league with 2 right footed CBs playing alongside each other.

He's talking at least 5 years down the line, so it's not unreasonable to assume someone like Denayer will have broken into the first team or we will have signed another CB in that time...

Nope, for this year I'm pretty certain now that Demicheles is staying (and thats good) and Rekik is going out on loan, leaving us 4 CBs.

Yep, down the line, at least one of Mangala/Nasty/Rekik will be sold, probably not Mangala after what we paid for him. Heard good things about Denayor, also like the look of John Stones at Everton so plenty of options.

I am wondering too about the 2015 season. Do we renew Demicheles? If not, we can't have 3 left footed Center Backs in Rekik/Nasty/Mangala...that was where my initial question came from.

So we have secured our targets and filled our gaps. We already had a fast improving and settles side. We have a top back up for Zab and a DM that can release Yaya to be effectively a new AM option. If we can also get a run of fitness and form from Negrado and Kun as well as Jovetic on top of a 156 goal season then I 4 1 am as happy as Larry. Getting the best again out of any of those three is as good as signing any of the 'big' names other clubs are having to indulge in. Flappers and Flippers and those in-between, calm thy pash, enjoy the sun and relax in the knowledge we are in safe hands.
