The first Roses album is a masterpiece, the second one an ok album with a few moments of actual brilliance. Oasis were a better band because they made two absolutely stunning albums, whereas the Roses managed one.
I might reevaluate after their new album comes out next year ...
I said New Order and the Smiths had moments of quality. Their entire (or even the majority of their) input was not quality.
The Roses first lp is the greatest of all time. Their 2nd lp was some distance behind but still had several tracks that are utter brilliance (Love Spreads / Tears / Breaking into Heaven). Even several of their 'pre lp' early stuff and b-sides are phenomenal (Mersey Paradise / Elephant Stoned / Standing Here / Tell Me etc).
Oasis have never ever made a 'stunning album'. Musically they are not in the same universe as the Roses mate.
In a similar way that we say 'he wouldn't get in our team' when discussing players, there is not a single Oasis tune that would get on that 1st Roses lp. Not in a billion years.
Therefore Oasis' best isn't as good as the Roses and therefore it matters not how many albums they made.
Clearly record sales say otherwise, Definitely Maybe and What's the story morning glory are two of the best albums ever.
Although their not from Manchester the Verve are a quality band I think the Verve are from Wigan if im not mistaken. The album Urban Hymns is a quality album

Oasis have never made a stunning album? Are you taking the piss? Definitely Maybe is arguably the greatest album of all time, how can it be anything other than stunning. I'm a MASSIVE roses fan but for me oasis are the best band of all time, followed by the Roses.
Their second album has aged badly and the rest were poor.
No complaints men they couldn't hang best live for mePinkFinal said:Chameleons
