Not just a manager, our longest serving one!I wonder how many of you know that a City manager (and former player) was born in India?
Yep, Dan Sak of the Daily Mail is writing an article as we speak. That’s India ruined.
Quite correct, NZBlue. 1950 to 1963, to be precise - in the days when managers weren't sacked every few days. He was a tactical thinker, was Les, introducing the deep-lying centre-forward (aka Revie Plan).
He was born in India where his father was a Scots missionary. He was sacked after City were relegated in 1963, and was succeeded by the assistant manager, George Poyser, a disastrous move and a warning against appointing the assistant to top dog. (See also John Benson).
Les McDowall, for those who don't know City's history. Oh yes, we have some.
....so you'll remember the attendances of 8,000 under Poyser!
