You reduce nothing though because whilst they're playing that qualifier we will play a friendly against somebody only marginally better with absolutely nothing at stake.

You really think if we didn't play that game tonight we would be giving the players rest and wouldn't be playing the highest bidder in a friendly thousands of miles away instead?

Maybe we would but that’s a separate stupid decision.

By losing one team from the qualifying group we lose two games, two games is equivalent to one international window. I think getting rid of the two most pointless games of qualifying is a price worth paying to save one window of space in the calendar. If that is wasted through stupidity then that’s a different decision causing a different issue.

Anyway, I’d rather watch us play a friendly against Brazil or Argentina than this.
