And there lies the problemAnd that chimp would still be more appealing than the Tories or reform.

Many Labour voters in Manchester loathe Andy Burnham along with his PR team of Rayner and the hard left.Is Burnham liked by the Manchester public?
If there were a ballot today just between two Labour candidates for Manchester mayor, Burnham vs a competent other, would Burnham win?
If someone could set up a poll on a new thread I'd appreciate it

Party politics is stopping himIf wants to be an Mp can’t he Resign as Mayor?
He wants to be a Labour MP; they won't let him stand as one. He can stand as an independent, sure, but he wants to remain a member of the party. If wants to be an Mp can’t he Resign as Mayor?
Nobody is perfect but overall I think he’s done far more good than bad.Is Burnham liked by the Manchester public?

Labour Party rulebook:If wants to be an Mp can’t he Resign as Mayor?
The reality is that the left of Labour have tried to over-throw the right, and given no fucks to how the electorate would accept this. Would Burnham have got Labour into government, I’m not sure as he squared himself away for the mayoral role.Labour Party rulebook:
Combined or Single Authority Mayors and Police and Crime
Commissioners must seek the express permission of the NEC/SEC/WEC (as
applicable) before seeking nomination as Labour candidates for the Westminster
Parliament. The NEC/SEC/WEC’s decision shall be final
Was it wise for Burnham to go for it (knowing the make up of the committee that would make the decision)? Was it wise for the committee to make the decision? There was no pain-free answer (for Burnham or the party).
There will be other good candidates for the vacant seat.
Burnham and Rayner, the hard left??Many Labour voters in Manchester loathe Andy Burnham along with his PR team of Rayner and the hard left.
If anything, the left of Labour has been overthrown by the right. Burnham is only left in relation to Starmer. The reality is that the left of Labour have tried to over-throw the right, and given no fucks to how the electorate would accept this. This is what interests me about Labour politics, when will they implode and give the right their vote. And we all know now that they’re prepared to give them their vote rather than looking after themselves and their ‘so called’ comrades.
This is why it’s hard to vote for Labour, you know that the RW media will pull every trick to bring them down, and their voters will just fall apart when they’re offered the absolute minimum.
Nothing’s changed, people need to enjoy their misery.

Lift up thine eyes to the hills my friends. Burnham is happy to be backed by the big unions' charioteer Angela of Adswood. If anything, the left of Labour has been overthrown by the right. Burnham is only left in relation to Starmer.
Burnham is a brainless, talentless blister. He was told he would be blocked but went ahead anyway to give his hard left backers a chance to target Starmer. He also knew that a mayoral election would likely result in Reform winning giving them a 4 year term and control over £millions of regional spending but went ahead anyway. The choice between GM vs Denton/Gorton falling to Farage is a pretty easy one to make for someone with a shred of integrity. The reality is that the left of Labour have tried to over-throw the right, and given no fucks to how the electorate would accept this. Would Burnham have got Labour into government, I’m not sure as he squared himself away for the mayoral role.

He has zero principles except self promotion, he attaches himself to whatever & whoever will further his pathetic career - absolute no mark in every conceivable respect. The idea that Andy Burnham is hard left is hilarious.
