Andy Burnham | Manchester Mayor

The reality is that the left of Labour have tried to over-throw the right, and given no fucks to how the electorate would accept this. Would Burnham have got Labour into government, I’m not sure as he squared himself away for the mayoral role.

This is what interests me about Labour politics, when will they implode and give the right their vote. And we all know now that they’re prepared to give them their vote rather than looking after themselves and their ‘so called’ comrades.

This is why it’s hard to vote for Labour, you know that the RW media will pull every trick to bring them down, and their voters will just fall apart when they’re offered the absolute minimum.

Nothing’s changed, people need to enjoy their misery.

The general public will always prefer to be told it's somebody else's fault their struggling financially. It's an easy win for the right to grow support when they peddle the same bullshit about immigration. Farage blamed the EU for everything, pushed Brexit. Now things are worse than had we stayed he's claiming he again has the solution.

The left meanwhile try to tell everyone times will be tough but if everyone chips in things will improve and good times will return.

If you have half a brain you'll appreciate that a lack of investment in public services combined with huge debt means things turn to shit and to get back to the good times it takes more investment and a bit of a struggle. But listening to Farage tell you if we get rid of immigrants and force people to work we'll all be better off certainly sounds a lot better. The fact it's bollocks just requires a little education and that's beyond a vast majority.

Ultimately, the majority of politicians say whatever they have to in order to win an election and then reality bites and they balance what they can do with what keeps them in power. Burnham is no different. He'll cause Labour a real headache and it will lead to fighting within the party which gives them no chance in the next election but probably leads to Burnham being leader which is all he really cares about.

and therein lies the problem for us Labour voters, a choice of completely unprincipled leaders. Starmer is exactly the same, he hitched himself to Corbyn to get to the top. Only hope is Streeting now or Farage's evil mob will take over the country.

Burnham under the cosh - banged to rights by callers on the GMR phone currently being carried by BBC News - despite the sycophantic rag Sweeney trying to shut them up. Accused repeatedly of putting himself above the party and lying through his teeth by saying an immediate GM mayoral election wouldn't be a gift for Reform - Farage mob 4 years in control of our multi-million regional spending the price of his hard left backed leadership challenge. Blister.

And withdrawing GM support for the railway he just persuaded Starmer to fund!

Andy Burnham is just another politician who enjoys power and the personal benefits it delivers. He resigned as a Labour MP because he did not fancy years in Opposition and kicking his heels in The Shadow Cabinet. He jumped ship to become Mayor where he thought he could exercise some real power. Now he sees a bigger opportunity in unseating Starmer. Whilst ambition is to be admired I'm not sure what he thinks he's bringing to the table

Hard Left hahahahahaha

You should be on stage you fucking halfwit.
with comprehension skills like that I can see why you left Labour.

I have never described him as hard left, he is hard nothing except himself but is supported by 'Rayner and the hard left' - capiche?

Burnham comes across as an insincere opportunist.
Politicians have to represent the views and opinions of the electorate, many of which will be of little or no interest to them, so the ability to argue such matters naturally makes them insincere.

The question is not which candidate is sincere it is which one has the best opportunity and skills to make improvements. It’s a dirty game, politics. Insincerity and opportunism are NOT terrible traits to possess.

I would counter that people who are sincere and not merely slippery opportunists are more likely to make improvements as they actually care about the job they are doing and the people they represent as opposed to using each role as a stepping stone.

Andy Burnham will be at MIPIM in Cannes this week starting tomorrow, pressing flesh, quaffing Champers, eating canapés, and telling everyone what an amazing job he has done with the buses and Metrolink, while Gtr Manchester continues to ground to a halt.

And we are paying for it.
To be fair, he got the tram to the airport, did Ryan Air and a local bus to Cannes.
A proper socialist is are Andy

An update on the proposed new stadium from United.

So they're talking to local land owners
Talking to people and companies that want to invest in the stadium
They're talking to companies that want to invest in the wider area
And they're talking to the councils

Was that update given by donald trump?

There seems to be increased chatter about Burnham returning to mainstream politics and potentially a leadership challenge and ultimately PM. I don't live in Manchester. For those that do, what do you think of him and what has he achieved for the city?

Greater Manchester

Yellow buses? (that you wait an hour for after the match going to Ashton if you miss the single match bus 222)

Fantastic tram service for the Etihad stadium (especially after games)?

Congestion cameras that were scrapped? (not his fault apparently)

A daft bus only mental lane/road thing near the east lancs?

Fuck all? All words, waffle and ambition for himself?
