Andy Carroll - Would you?

I actually think there's an intelligent discussion to be had about the lad's merits and how he could possibly be a target for us given Marwood's declaration that we will target the best young players in the country.

Doesn't look like it's going to be on this thread though.

I do aswell.

I beleive the player will be the best striker in England in the next couple of years.

There are hardly any players i go actually say out loud "yes!" when i hear they arent in the starting line up against us, he was one of them.

If you watched the interview with him on Sky before yesterday's match you could tell he loved Newcastle and even said he wants to stay there his whole career if possible. I think the only way he'd want out is if they get relegated. We could force a move with money but that may affect his behaviour and motivation levels.

He is a very good player and offers something no one else in our team does but Dzeko would have a better attitude, even if he might have to come to terms with the physicality of the PL.

it's a big massive fuck off no from me. This guy is atrocious

i hope you mean off the field, if so i agree with you.

on the field though he is the real deal, i have made no secret of the fact that i like this kid and have done from the first day i clapped eyes on him, although a tosser he'd add something to our squad.

We should be staying away from archetypally British footballers if anything. We play a more continental system/style of play and moreover when was the last time a 'typically English good 'ol fashioned centre forward' was signed by Barcelona or Real Madrid or a giant European club.

In fact the more I think of it, the best English players in my lifetime have been the ones who 'bucked the trend' and played like a foreigner to one degree or another. With a couple of exceptions, but mostly.

Also, Carroll is the type of player we are trying to lose in terms of his off-field antics.

yeah mate i fully agree lets stay away from the typical english players and go for players like Adebayor, Santa Cruz and a wonderfully gifted flair player from brazil called JO!

Give me a break fella Carroll would hit 25+ in our side.

Agree.Sometimes you need good old fashion solid players. The amount of money we have wasted on forwards is shocking,We could have got Davies,Fuller,Bent,Carroll,Keane and the likes all for a lot less.Signings most fans would not accept on here but all would have cost a lot less and done a lot better than the above three. As i have posted before City should look for value signings, good squad signings so we do not have to watch the likes of Jo and RSC coming on again and trying to win us points..

A player with a hell of a lot of potential but one that wouldn't suit our style of play at the moment.

Rags/Spuds style of play with lots of width and quality balls into the box would suit him more imo.

I wouldn't say no but the price would have to be realistic, especially given his off field troubles.

His alleged personal behaviour is the only thing that would put me off. I wouldn't want a 6ft odd centre forward who knocks women around leading our attack. I don't know the full truth of those stories though.

He would give us a completely different option on the pitch & the idea he couldn't play in our team is utter nonsense. He'd just give our team an extra way of scoring goals & make us more likely to beat teams like Birmingham & Wolves (& Juventus for that matter).

Sorry mate but I'm not having that...he's had one decent season in the Championship and not even half one in the PL...he's achieved absolutely nothing to justifying being mentioned as "best player in the world" at anything yet.

I can tell you a far better player in the air for starters-Tim Cahill.

Bullshit.

I would make you a bet with everything i own that Andy Carroll would beat Tim Cahill in any header.

EDIT: tell me where i said he was the best player in the world? Get your facts right lad.

Sorry mate, Tim cahill is probably the best in the air.

-- Mon Nov 29, 2010 9:36 pm --

Sorry mate, Tim cahill is probably the best in the air.

Tim Cahill is a skillfull header of the ball who has a great jump on him but his biggest success is down to his clever movement which gets him space to get away from his marker & they either don't get off the ground at the right time or don't get close enough to stop him. Andy Carroll isn't as smart (yet) but he's an equally good jumper, equally as skillful & a monster from hell. It's like Ricky Hatton fighting Mike Tyson. Both good, one much bigger, heavier & stronger.

He does not,I repeat NOT,have a shite haircut,it's just like mine!!!!!!

I really like him but rather than shoving the blank checkbook under the toons noses, lets just leave the lad to play for the club he loves and has supported his whole life.Maybe we will get an Andy Carroll of our own one day.(Are there any big, strong, fast, manc nutters, with the long flowing hair of Samson anywhere in the academy?)
