He might have been brought up there, or just adopted it because of the music, he certainly didn't talk with a southern accent from memory. He was definitely a blue, as he often talked about it, but if he was brought up in the NW, he was about the right age to be the "glory hunter" from our late 60's/early 70's success.I always thought he was from wigan, sure I heard him talking about it once on radio 1.
I,m sure he said he used to walk down to the casino, maybe he moved thereHe might have been brought up there, or just adopted it because of the music, he certainly didn't talk with a southern accent from memory. That said I know few from the south, still going now, that had no connection with the NW.

Born in Hampstead, London, Peebles attended Bishop's Stortford college.
He began as a nightclub DJ in the late 1960s.
Peebles was resident DJ at the Chelsea Village disco in Glen Fern Road, Bournemouth, in the early 1970s.
He began his radio career in 1973 with BBC Radio Manchester.
In 1974, Peebles was among the founding DJs of Piccadilly Radio in Manchester.
After four years at Piccadilly, Peebles was a presenter on BBC Radio 1 from 1978 to 1992.
During his time with the BBC, he also presented 15 editions of Top of the Pops from 1979 to 1984 and broadcast for the British Forces Broadcasting Service and the BBC World Service
Soul Train was mostly on a Sunday but also went out on a Friday sometimes (the Programme Controllers do enjoy freshening things up) and Mike Shaft took over the show when Andy moved to R1.Sad news. Loved Soul Train (was it Sunday evening?). My memory could be wrong (I may be getting mixed up with Mike Shaft) but if it was Andy Peebles I seem to remember he did a final show on Piccadilly before moving to Radio 1 and it was one of the best shows I've ever heard.
It’s mentioned in the “famous person who died” thread in off topic, but as a Blue he deserves his own thread.
RIP Andy
