Please stop with the "defensive mediocrity" bullshit, he was doing just as well in a back 4 for PSG last year against Spurs and Barcelona and he defends well.

He just didn't get time to learn the system, he defended poorly because he was coming from being out of position.
Did you watch PSV a lot?

Angelino might be a top 5 attacking LB in Europe. It's a shame we couldn't get this out of him. Immense for Leipzig.

He is doing what Severn Trent Water is doing. There isn't that much difference. Severn Trent Water can't defend but has a defensive midfield ahead.

I can't help but feel there the club has a certain stigma towards its own academy players. We all know it takes a while for players to adapt to Pep's style of play but Angelino, despite his mixed performances overall, was given far less of a chance than others in the squad. It's not surprising to see him doing well but it seems the club thought it was excellent business making 25m on someone that came from the academy probably highlighting that is our primary focus when it comes to our youth set-up.

His position doesn't exist in our formation. We play with our leftback tucked in as a playmaker. His role at PSV was to provide width and whip in crosses, much like our fullbacks those few times we played 3ATB

It's weird how we've changed our fullbacks roles since Mendy's injury and with Delph and then Zinchenko as replacements. Because in the beginning Mendy offered width and wipped in crosses like a madman. To the point were Sané was redundant and began to get benched. I wonder why we don't change back, however Mendy seems worse at crossing than before

Play an attacking fullback in positions so he can attack and cross? Shocking that he has impressed, he is playing the same way he did at PSV.

Doesn't matter that it's a back 5, at PSV they played back 4 and let him attack wide. Tore tottenham apart then too.

I dont really understand the boards buying decisions, both Cancelo and Angelino are attacking fullbacks and we force them to play inverted, we should have gone for other more suitable players.
