Angelino

he may get some gametime off the bench in suitable situations.
I have a hunch that that is what is going to happen today. It would be a good way for MP to assess his level as a viable, if temporary, back-up for Aleks before the trip to Sevilla. Since the squad is only one deep at both LB and RB at the moment we need better cover than untried EDS palyers or repurposed wingers or CBs.

Unless he has made a sudden improvement since I last saw him, I wouldn't want to see Angelino playing fullback v Seville. Left mid, at a stretch, but not fullback. I would rather see Maffeo play right back & Sagna play on the left, if we were desperate.

I can see your thinking there but I think MP is just too conservative to go with Maffeo, certainly not with almost no first team/senior football under his belt. MP has followed a conservative approach with using youth players, e.g. friendly appearances leading to 5 minutes, then 10, etc. My gut is telling me that Angelino has jumped to the front of the queue thanks to his first team experience in NY.

We'll if you are correct, I hope he surprises me & has moved up a level defensively, but personally I would currently trust Navas defensively above Angelino. Maffeo is a genuine defender Angelino is an attacker imo but he started like that when he was promoted to the EDS & improved 100% defensively over the season. But now he has another 150% to go from what I've seen.

angelino has some work to do defensively, watched him here in nyc multiple times, kid has the talent to be the starting left back though

Do they not have Google Search where you live?

;)
You would imagine that I tried to, but I didn't find anything :) :(. Not a single hint of them being called-up on the OS of their federation also. But I've seen it on twitter that they are "representatives" of u19 and u17 spain national teams. And, finally, I simpky want to find them in this list. I mean they're our top youngsters and they are obviously good enough for u17 and u19 squads (if not for u19 then for u18, that's for sure)!

None of them have been called up since leaving Spain, as seems typical of their youth systems. Even Hector Bellerin has only just got back into their youth set-up at u21 level after being Arsenal's first choice RB for a year.

Is anyone aware of the plan with Angelino as he is back and training with our first team?
He seems to have grown quite a bit physically over the last 6 months I wounder if he will get a loan in the championship or given a first team chance

Someone high up at the club told me this - he can't play for anyone until January at the earliest due to the terms of his loan/transfer window stipulations etc.

So he's effectively just training ATM. After that, if he played a single minute for the first team it'd rule out a loan elsewhere apparently, so chances are that won't happen unless the plan is to use him in the first team properly. Which I doubt. He'll go out on loan most likely id suspect, but not NYCFC

Strange.

Have you seen him recently ? If so would you also recon he has grown at all physically/ or maybe height ? (No need to use the pixel method, just a rough estimate).

Ha I knew that'd come back to haunt me. Honestly I've not, other than various pics of him in first team training. Hard to tell tbh.

I don't know how true that loan thing is but the person who told me I'd trust, but he could be wrong I guess. Isn't it three clubs in one season? Or sumat like that?

I honestly don't know how the MLS season counts or to what season it does apply, but the regulation normally is that you can't play for more than two clubs per season.

I think you can be signed, however, but cannot feature in an official match.

Reading the following I think he can register for 3 clubs (pretty sure that's 100% right) and play for all 3 because of the season overlaps.

http://resources.fifa.com/mm/docume...sstatusandtransfer_2015_e_v051015_neutral.pdf

5.3. Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer/autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. Equally, the provisions relating to the registration periods (article 6) as well as to the minimum length of a contract (article 18 paragraph 2) must be respected.

Knowing us he'll get a 30second run out late December and then never be seen for the first team again

I'd love to see a loan to the Championship. Then maybe next season a full season loan to a newly promoted PL side or someone in Spain. The lad has now got his taste of "grown man football" so there isn't a point in putting him back in the EDS

Nah loans to the championship are generally awful. Anywhere but the championship...
