Angelino

Maybe the haven't paid us the full amount for him yet?
Could be. Or we sold him so cheap because we wanted a low buy-back clause. If we sign him this summer, it has basically been a one-year-loan, but they got 1m for it, which probably covered his wages

The thing is, we sold him for €5m. There's no way anyone is going to invest all that time and wages in a player for €1m. His wages would have been more than that.

Luuk De Jong, one of their better players and also a quite old one, earned 2.55m a year a couple years back, so I don`t think Angelino` s wages would have been much more than 1m (if it even exceeded that amount). You could look at it this way: they`ve had one of the best young attacking LBs in the world for one season almost for free, assisting 12 goals and being a very important player in the title race. Most of us were surprised when we sold him for 5m, but it makes a lot of sense if we could get him back for 6m or 12m

The smaller figure has to be net to PSV. PSV were probably paying us their fee over two or three years and the €6m being reported is what we owe them after canceling future payments.

That's great if we've got a clause in. Don't want to move Zinchenko from pillar to post, but whilst he's played very well and really grown, I think he's a more natural CM in the Gundogan role. If we have Mendy, Angelino & Zinchenko (and even Laporte) who can play LB, Walker & Cancelo/AWB (assuming Danilo leaves), that's a great mix of fullback options. Cheap too.

Hopefully he is happy to return, the fact he will be aware much of his time will be spent on the bench may be a spanner in the works.

First team football elsewhere may well be the more attractive proposition.

I wonder if we have looked at this as an alternative to Maguire. By that I mean purely as a home grown alternative. If we bring in Angelino will it now mean we go for a foreign centre back? Or will Fernandinho move to centre half if Zinchenko provides cover for a new defensive midfielder?
