I understand it can't be posted on here, I was getting at why are the players protected with injunctions and papers aren't allowed to print what they want as long as they can back it up. I don't get the protection they get, some footballer shags some slag behind his Mrs back who clearly couldn't give a fuck as long as she gets the wallet. It's not national security we are on about here.

The judge agrees it seems. Someone wants to be in the public eye, then publication (with proof) is 'in the public interest.'

That isn't strictly how a judge would classify a public interest; the general rationale, proposed and oft stated as the ratio of the court when deliberating upon matters of public interest is roughly that, "the public interest is not merely what the public is interested in". The discussion of public interest in this particular case (supposedly an infidelity) pertains to whether it is in the public interest for the claimant to have that information with-held, not whether it is in the public interest to hear the information (in this case a public interest argument could act as a bar to publication but not as a rationale for publication). It is a subtle distinction, one which is often misunderstood
