They weren't 'kids', they were 19 years old. The gun wasn't loaded but I don't see what difference that makes; they both fully deserved to be shot. It's just a shame his aim wasn't better.
Fully deserved to be shot?

So robbery is now a capital offence in your eyes?
I never said they deserved to be killed, but if you go into somewhere waving a gun and threatening people, you can't really complain when someone shoots you. I'd happily ban all guns tomorrow, but these two clowns got exactly what they deserved.
They didn't intend to shoot anyone, so why do they deserve to be shot?

No one wants to address my first question?
Why does the old man have the right to further endanger the lives of the other customers? What if the gun had been loaded and a shoot out had occurred? It's very possible that he would have only ignited the situation resulting in a very tragic outcome.

Do you have the right to use violence to protect your property?

US gun laws are absolute madness, they really are. And sadly there is no real prospect of reform due to the immense power the gun lobby holds over there.
Don't you know, the massacre was a government plot to change gun laws.

Makes sense. I mean why bother all the other times when you can use Batman publicity

Well, the shooting deaths in Chicago aren't going to shake the sense of secure complacency off of those suburban white folks. Hit them in their places of leisure, kill their kids, bring the violence into their communities.

Everyone knows about the shooting deaths in the inner cities, but it doesn't happen to them so they do nothing to stop it.

Right?

The USA is a Different World. As it happens, I know quite a few Americans, and most of them seem to favour gun control. But I suspect they are atypical among Yanks, most of whom take the view that if guns were banned the criminals would be the only ones with guns, as they don't obey laws. Which is true - it's exactly the situation we have in the UK.

I dare say, if I wanted to, I could buy (or rent) a gun tomorrow. We all know where the 'shops' are likely to be. I won't because I have have no plans to commit armed robbery or top anyone, and because I don't fancy being banged up. If I was allowed by law to have a gun, I'd be tempted, given that I am not a youthful body builder, and if a group of armed criminals broke in here I would, at best, only have a kitchen knife to defend myself, and I would almost certainly lose.

So I sort of see both sides. But I admit, if I was elected Dictator tomorrow, I wouldn't legalise guns here. Enough nutters get hold of them as it is. In the USA so many people have guns, and want them for defence (whether this is delusional or not) no Government would dare ban them. We may think it's crazy, but we don't get to elect the US Government.

One interesting theory on the frequency of this type of crime is the idea that the more they kill the more famous, or infamous, they become. Everyone wants to be 'top of the league'.

You've just given 6 million (that's an exact figure) disenfranchised rags an idea.

Right?

I was thinking more like Columbine when peoples children were murdered in school, or the Virgnia tech killings
