You have the same say any other member of the union has.We haven't got a say on the break up, that's up to the home countries. I think the Union is over-rated, specially in the context of the Scottish who want to leap from one union to another, but it's not my decision.
Interestingly I have just been catching up on the Friday evening posts and it was all good until about midnight - then the thread receives some negative posts which take it downhill - they were generally coming from one side - again - it has always been the casehooray
Brexit day 1 and the insults and insulters are back.
Conformity of trade and rules! Are you deliberately obtuse?errrr - Canada has no historical association with the UK and France.............yeah right
Nah. There will be a pause for 3 or 4 years, but the Wahington plant is the most efficient plant that Nissan has. With the EU-Japan deal, tariffs between the two will slowly come down and if there is no deal between the UK and EU Japan will export to the EU directly and replace its exports elsewhere to come from the UK. Any other option is financial stupidity.

You knew exactly what he meant. You were just being silly to try and score a point.MB claimed Canada had no history with countries in the EU - I was simply highlighting the error.

Really?? Fair enough you are on the other side of the debate, but at least try and be balanced in your assessment?I wasn't the silly one.
We never had history of a deal on trade with the EU anymore than Canada, we were the EU. Now we aren’t So we aren’t in a better position than Canada to get a deal with the eu over the line any quicker. At least we aren’t if we rule out alignment with EU regulation. Of course we could do a very quick deal if we agreed to align with EU regulation because we already meet the regulations.Conformity of trade and rules! Are you deliberately obtuse?
I really cannot understand itThey hate the country and the people so much because there are some who hold a different opinion to them?
I've never gotten that mentality; if you have that much hate in your soul for a nation and it's people, why not just move?
Do we align with EU rules now , Yes Did Canada before they started trade discussions No. Clearly we have an advantage. Try and be a bit more balanced. We never had history of a deal on trade with the EU anymore than Canada, we were the EU. James O'Brien on LBC is another . Absolutely no balance what so ever in any of his arguments. And he's down right rude to those that dissagree with him.I really cannot understand it
There are so many that seem to neeeed to run the country down so much - it is so palpable
You said yourself that new orders for new models would not be made for 2 or 3 years. There was no mention beyond that date. The leak to the FT specifies what could happen if there is no deal.Where do you live? Only I live in the North East - I live near, drink with and talk to people who work in or supply to the Washington plant. Where do you get your info from?
YepHere’s a refreshing change.
After seeing Theresa May failing to ever state a clear & decisive negotiating position and never once counteract the almost daily barrage of demands and threats coming from the EU it will be a far different proposition going forward.
Johnson is due to make a speech next week where he will state that he will prefer to accept checks on movement of goods and tariffs rather than stay in alignment with the EU. This may well be a negotiating position but that is how these things work. By the end, May had both hands tied behind her back (possibly by choice) so there was no obvious reason for the EU to negotiate seriously.
No deal is back on the table and it carries a threat for the EU as they don’t want a large competitor on their doorstep which is able to undercut them.
Finally toe to toe negotiations are about to commence.
Very well saidI haven't got any political leanings because the political parties have taken that choice away from me, this toing and froing posting one side versus the other side is tragic on so many levels. I genuinely voted for Labour in the last election to give Corbyn a chance to run a country instead of running his own mouth off and I voted to remain because I didn't want my non UK based family to be hindered by any regulations.
But that said and done I am resigned to making a good deal out of a bad situation, someone on here said that they thought that if the Tories had been against Brexit and Labour had pushed for it then a lot of remainers would have supported it, the reason why we are in the situation we are in now is that X-factor politics has dragged the bitterness from a few vocal ideologues into the forefront.
The claim was the vast majority though which as I said earlier is pish. Unless you can substantiate it.I was meaning on here
I could name several posters that are in the 'top few' in both the number of posts they make and how stridently anti-Brexit they are - who would be utterly obsessed Leave supporters if that guaranteed a hard-left government
In your need to belittle the UK you do not seem to have given a lot of thought to this44% of our exports go to the EU and 53% of our imports come from the EU as well

Somehow I don't think the EU will be the ones worse off if we decide to enact no deal
Dont be daft mate. If the English wanted a referendum and it was supported by English MPs, they could have a referendum tomorrow because of the number breakdown of MP's. That doesn't apply to the other countries. You have the same say any other member of the union has.
Nationalism is what it is whether it’s Scottish or English.
If English nationalists wanted they could canvas for an English referendum but I think they’d find it as difficult to get as the Scots.
It sounds like the break up wouldn’t upset you but you’d like it to be someone else’s fault.
If English nationalism wants to change it’s image, that you think is portrayed badly, then people like yourself need to define what it is you are proud of and what it is you desire.
Again not a criticism but Scottish or Irish nationalists are very clear about what they want.
I’m saying English nationalism leads to the same thing, but you can’t blame others for the result.
