Another new Brexit thread

Now that we’ve established on the Johnson thread that for some people getting Brexit done takes precedence over having a competent government that would have a better chance of saving British citizens’ lives, the fanaticism is clear and obvious. Reasoned discussion is pointless.

.......with either side. Both only see their view as reasonable.

Have you ever tried that approach? I must have missed that post.

Of course there is the other tactic some Remainers practice - being devious and deceitful in the manner in which they twist the words of other posters.

I have not posted much in the Johnson thread, but I have never made such an assertion.

Also, when I have read it I have not seen anyone else make such an assertion - are you sure that you are not simply making things up???

he's always been a loon, but a likeable one. is he fit for office? the pubic and his colleagues obviously think so. he's too weak for me but if he sees Brexit through i dont give a shit.
Well said - again

More Brexit news. Source Guardian.

More bad news for UK. EU diplomats - who have now read UK texts - back Michel Barnier’s charge that UK is cherry picking. UK sources were withering about Barnier resorting to the “old script”, but British claims of wanting 'the best of Canada' don’t convince.

Here are a handful of areas where the EU thinks the UK is effectively seeking status quo: mutual recognition agreements for industry; professional services, such as law and auditing; energy interconnection on the internal market; rights for lorry drivers and more.

And there is an eye-rolling weariness every time a British negotiator pronounces that the UK is a sovereign state. The EU say they they know this. They are also sovereign states. That’s why they set the conditions for entry into their market. Hard cheese.’

If we accept that the 2016 ref was essentially a 50/50 result - maybe only tipped in the favour of leave by posters, things on the side of a bus and racism, with a similarly close GE when May had to employ the DUP to form a govt (another inconclusive vote either way in brexit terms) how did we then get from there to BJ' thumping 80 seat majority based purely on the 'get brexit done' tag line?.

Oh !!

So, as just asked on the Johnson thread, you are indeed twisting the words of others to mean something else - and indeed, using this disastrous pandemic for the purpose of political point-scoring.

Over the years, I have not had much time for your views and have found you to be obsessed with practicing ad hominem in your posting style - but I had given you more credit than that....

Anyway, I am not going to get sucked into such a 'disappointing' use of this terrible pandemic - you will have to crack on with it yourself.

And that is deemed to be 'bad news'?

Strange
