Matbe these poor folk will be enriched by picking fruit for a decent wage?

But they won't get a decent wage - its economically impossible to pay the wage you imply and sell to the supermarkets for a profit - the farmers will go bust, shut up shop or grow other crops where possible. What we will get is fruit from abroad and do you know what? That will have been picked by pickers from within the EU on the type of wage they were getting here.

You are correct of course - exactly the same reason it was too pricey to use the white folks to pick cotton.

Meanwhile you reverse engineer an argument to fit the original conclusion that you don't like the EU as an institution so create faux outrage at low paid workers from the EU - the unfortunate reality to fucks your argument is that

a/ Unlike those who picked cotton the continental fruit pickers came ( and went ) of their own free will and-
b/ The wage they earn is at least the living wage in the UK - something that has to be paid by law to UK workers in warehouses, shops, labouring - the list goes on.

At least be honest when constructing an argument.

Higher wages where not an issue when Corbyn was promising them to everyone?

Hilarious to now see you and others almost advocating them though to suit your Brexit narratives.

Do you reckon everyone who will be worse off due to increased fruit and veg prices will be able to get a farm job to compensate? Really?

You only have to read that article to see the answer is no. The UK "pickers" are proving to be unproductive for the most part and - laughably - lack the requisite skills to do an "unskilled" job. Half jack it in after a short time anyway.

Ah yes, the £10 living wage.

'current living wage is not enough for people to live on!!! unless it's for picking fruit, in which case it's about right'

I must have missed the bit that excluded fruit pickers so as to keep prices down?
