There’s a decent chance you will be correct if your predictions prove you to be a ‘Cassandra’, and I’ve predicated all I have posted on this particar matter re: the old and young around leaving inflicting significant economic damage on the UK (along with the implied associated reduction in global influence) which I believe is a likely outcome in a no deal scenario, which is why it should be avoided at all costs.
The best chance of no-deal being avoided is for the EU to face the prospect of it - they will then fetter the backstop by a fixed date and associated conditions

Johnson on at a party conference.
I think he's a particularly awful human being but it's pretty obvious to see he's a very skilled public speaker.
Has an ability to mix enough half truths and charisma that makes him sound extremely appealing to those who want to leave the EU.

Completely opposite character as to when he's in an interview

I did hear an argument from an independent over here saying the EU would be the ones putty pressure on us to put up a hard border and we would get the blame for doing so.
It does seem to me to be all about where the blame will lie when you crash out rather than, getting constructive talks on solutions going.
That’s from both sides now.

In answer to your question, personally I really don’t know what the answer is but the noises from our side do seem to suggest that we rather hope that your parliament succeeds in getting an extension.

This too is kicking the can down the road, but the hope would be that we would be dealing with a different government after an election.

That’s probably not what you want to hear, but as I stated last night, the Solutions to Brexit and the evolution of the GFA are seen as two very different things.
However they are intertwined and any Brexit solution should have the backing of a sizable majority of the NI community.
Currently all the UK government have is the DUP and they have their own anti-GFA reasons for their support.

I suppose the paradox is that we see it as a mess of the UK’s making and don’t feel we should be the ones that have to come up with a solution.
A deal was negotiated in good faith.
However, the absence of a deal will have dire consequences on this island as a whole.

The order of the day seems to be kicking the cab down the road.

The solution would be fucking off the DUP & uniting Ireland, then having a border on each side of the water.

Other than that, any other solution will not be a solution.

A 'soft' Brexit would of course solve that from this side, but then we will be more or less back to the same situation of Farage & the ERG campaigning for another more extreme Brexit situation.

This speech from Johnson is just soupy bullshit being ladled out to the converted. No substance, all horse shit, but as long as enough people believe him, that's all that matters.

May’s deal would suggest otherwise, whatever you may feel about its consequences.
Not sure how you draw that conclusion

Is it because you think May's deal was the result of the EU facing her down over a no-deal outcome?

If so, I really think that you are wrong - she was utterly useless and could not negotiate with that strength - the EU knew that - they also were able to dictate to Robbins what the UK should draft because he was more useless than May

It's amazing how little he's said and what he has said he's effectively slagged off his own party on numerous occasions. It's just like his spiel prior to the campaigning and not like a situation that has been ongoing for three and a half and sits on a cliff edge.
