I'm not too clear on why the Lib Dems are suggesting December 9th not 12th as suggested by the Tories. And why the Tories and Labour regard that as a "stunt"?

I must be missing something. Please can anyone explain?

I must admit - I don't get it either. I can see why Tories and Lib Dems want a GE over Labour - polling tells you why. But the issue for Labour is what else are they going to do? If we don't have a 2nd Ref and we don't have a GE what is going to change by the end of January? There is the argument that the longer BoJo goes on not delivering brexit the worse it looks for him - I agree with that assessment and that works for Labour. But you can only go so long doing nothing but still objecting to a GE. That is the calculation they are making and I just assume that Labour see it the other way to Lib Dem and want more delay to weaken BoJo further. Either way I get the vibe that something will give pretty soon. A 2nd Ref might come back into it if a GE wont get through. I cant see us going through to January without something happening! Maybe Corbyn will get the boot (more hope than speculation!).

Yep.... i think the last ten years has shown that

• we've been constantly lied to by the Conservatives (austerity was a political choice to deliver corporate tax cuts)
• We've been put through a referendum that needn't have happened (simply to solve an argument in the Tory Party) and which will probably result in the breakup of the union
• We've been led into a war at great cost in Libya which was more about regime change (i know Tony B Liar led us into one as well .. and I didnt agree with that one either)
• We've seen creeping privatisation of the NHS
• Erosion of workers rights
• Increase in Foodbanks
• Increase in homelessness
• Pensions stolen (women's and widows)

trusting Corbyn (and Im not a fan) and his front bench seems a safer alternative. Labour policies are good and sound ... focus on policies not personalities

May I add persicution of the sick disabled to your list?

I am aware of that fact, however I was simply drawing the parallel that both leaders use the same technique of entrenching their support.

It makes less of a difference if they vote at home. If every constituency in a university town has all the students there to vote, it makes a difference. But a December election could still backfire on the Tories - bad weather, icy roads, colds, will keep old people at home and most of them would be voting Tory.

They want to stop us leaving with a deal, because if we leave they are screwed. I have a feeling Labour are now going to vote for an election because their pre-condition of no deal off the table has been met, and they run the risk of the Tories backing the SNP and Lib Dem motion and being forced to have one anyway. Not a good look for a party going into an election.

Aha, sure. In a botanical/biological context, it is a fruit. But then, in that same context, there are no vegetables whatsoever, everything is technically a fruit.

In a cullinary, as well as a legal/trading context, it is a vegetable, it is both used/ consumed and regulated/taxed as a vegetable.
