Because your “opposing view” will damage every one of us and our families for years to come. That’s why. An opinion does not have equal validity to another opinion if one is backed with evidence and the other is not.

But there is no evidence. Nobody really knows what will happen.

I strongly believe that the EU will collapse sonner rather than later and when it does blood will be shed. Thats my belief but I could be wrong only time will tell.

I believe that the Britain is better in the EU because of increased trade, a better economy, increased collaboration, a stronger pound and increased security. I believe that countries prosper when part of a bigger trade group. I believe that it is better for the country to allow its citizens to have the right to study, work, live or retire abroad. I believe that being part of the Eu improves the international standing of the country, and improves relationships with our nearest neighbours. I can produce a mountain of irrefutable evidence for every one of those points.

You believe that the Eu will collapse and have no evidence whatsoever beyond “your belief”.

Our two opinions are not equivalent.

You strike me as the kind of guy that always leaves the house with an umbrella, even if it’s clear blue skies and 30 degrees.

Actually there is plenty of historical evidence to suggest it will fail.

We both have opinions neither can be proved and only time will tell.

I actually agree with much of what you saybut think the EU is headed beyond all the positives you rightly point out and there for me lies the problem. We do however differ in so much as you clearly think your opinion is a superior one to mine where as I accept yours as a possibility and am not so arrogant as to think you are of superior intellect to some one who views things differently. Sadly a trait of most leavers I find. My vote was and would be again marginal however I maintain...just that to leave would be better in the long term.

Under any of the current political leaders in this country I do however believe that it would be a absolute disaster in the short to medium term.

Really on what do you base that?

However I have been a fair few places where it is 30 and sunny and its always best to be aware of how quick the weather can change in some of them...never take a brolly even in those places and usually accept getting piss wet through...and never shelter under a tree in a thunderstorm.

My opinion has as much validity as yours. Your so called evidence is only opinion. You have no facts to back up your opinions simply because we have not left. In fact many of the leave campaign's dire predictions about the effects to the UK economy immediately after a leave vote never came through did they? I suppose these were some of your so called facts that you choose to forget?? Anyway weve been here many times before. Regardless of the above my other point was why do you amoungst others on here feel the need to be rude to other posters just because their opinion is different to yours. Please answer that question.

The rude bit seems to be a trait that most remainers on here have a compulsion for. They do in many respects remind me of Liverpool fans.

Think that is a little below the belt. But they do remind me James O'Brien on LBC, he is by far the rudest, belittling and self righteous presenter on LBC. Far more so than the right wing presenters.

who calls their book “ how to be right”

what a cock.

Although the question or answer bit of his show is good.

At your age mate I can sympathise with you not remembering what a 'Hard' one is.
However just to correct you for the record - whilst it is correct to say we were told during the referendum campaign that leaving the EU meant leaving the single market ( albeit that's not the case in theory - Norway) we were NOT told that leaving the EU meant leaving the customs union.
We were told we'd still be in a free trade zone from Iceland to the Russian border. That sounded pretty soft.

Yes they did, they just weren’t as severe as Osbourne said.

The UK was the fastest growing EU member in 2015, by 2018 we were 2nd slowest.

So here’s the thing. Farage is alleging he’s been offered a peerage to stand down (criminal offence) Tice has said similar? Am I right in remembering that? 6 others were also allegedly offered peerages. That’s 8 witnesses to a criminal offence. What’s being done about it?

If you want slef righteous but belittling on LBC listen to Eddie Mair interviewing Francois this evening. Fuck me he should be locked in the same store cupboard currently holding JRM and Bridgen. They must have money on a Tory defeat.

What historical evidence is there to suggest the EU might fail? I’ve lived in the EU all my life and taken full advantage of the benefits it had to offer. To this day, I still don’t see a future of failure, in fact, most Europeans are still completely behind the EU.

I have previously written at length why I hold these views. I cannot really be bothered to do so again but in a nutshell I do not believe you can bolt all the different nations and cultures together and expect them to all work and live the same. That is just with with indigenous people. Thats before you take the huge amount of immigrants and asylum seekers from beyond the borders of the EU. Add to this a clear ambition of ever closer union and federalisation and I think you have a huge Yugoslavia or Soviet Union. Gorby called it a new Soviet Union wearing a western suit which I think covers it.

For me its a matter of time before it goes the same way as Yugoslavia and the USSR.

I like and respect your answer, honestly. It’s a fear I have. However, I‘ve been living on the continent for 18 years now and nobody I know wants the EU to dissolve. If the EU does indeed collapse, it will be the fault of politicians and not the people. The main difference between the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and the EU is that the EU is a confederation that people choose to join willingly. The other two weren’t. That is the strength of the EU

I hope you are right. I have been travelling around parts of Europe in the last couple of years and regarding the people I think you are right many are more positive than negative about it.

There has though a fair few I have met who have concerns and usually concerning the federalisation and the immigration. Which back your point fully about the politicians. There is I am afraid amongst politicians always a greed for power and there in lies the danger in my view.

After all when it comes to the people we generally rub along ok and enjoy the ability to travel round a do business trade holiday and yes even retire to different places. Sadly the politicians usually do make a mess of it and when that inevitability comes a long things can go bad quickly.

The last thing I want is a load of hassle when going to some great places across the continent and there area good few more places within the EU I would like to go...but greed and expansionism are already raising their ugly heads and that is where I fear it will go tits up.

He's referring to the Government's own predictions regarding the negative economic effects of Brexit.
You're referring to lies told by Remain during the election campaign ( Leave told porkies as well).
The latter does not negate the former.

A bit like the UK.
