Can we finally dispel the myth and it is a myth that the country wants to remain now?

Thankfully we can.

The People have spoken again.

Hopefully Gina Miller will finally f*** off once and for all into the Sunset, and we’ll never have to see her smug face on TV again?

Unfortunately I fully expect her to go to the High Court once again, this time to try and overturn the General Election result.

I thought we wanted to remain ??

I thought we wanted a people’s vote ?

We’d changed our minds apparently..

All absolute shite from remainers who are in complete denial
They've already decided it's corbyns fault for not campaigning hard enough for remain in 2016 - still can't bring themselves to admit the country wants to leave, despite millions of poor/working class people being persuaded to vote tory yesterday. I'm sure they will comfort themselves that it was labours leader/campaign /manifesto but it's clear as day that 'get brexit done' has trumped everything else.

*the people have spoken:

the referendum was a mandate of approx 52% - 48% for Brexit.

the election was a mandate of approx 46% - 54% for Remain.

the referendum voting system was accurate and representative of the voters.

the election voting system was accurate and unrepresentative of the voters.

On a personal level:
It feels like turkeys voting for Christmas.

Not normally one to gloat, but I am absolutely happy to make an exception in this case.

I see every possiblity of Tory majority. And I am putting party politics aside on saying that. Bear in mind (a) Labour start from a position of being about 50 seats behind, before a vote is cast. (b) their vote will be hopelessly split between Marxists and Lib Dems and (c) Corbyn's popularity is at an all time low.

I think Labour will get trounced and Boris will get a majority of circa 50.

You thinking that has cheered me up no end!

Bookmarked. I'll quote you on it on the 13th and we can both rejoice in your cheeriness then.

So who is the empty-headed "know-nothing" now eh? I think that was the term you used.

Enjoy the result.

If we divide the number of Conservative votes by the sum of the non-Conservative votes, plus those who were eligible but didn't vote, plus those 16 year olds who were disenfranchised, plus all the EU nationals who were not allowed to vote because of racism, plus the postal votes that didn't arrive from Mogadishu because the plane was hijacked.." etc I think you’ll find that it was a resounding win for Remain.

I’m a remainer who has no problem admitting that.

One of the biggest issues with brexit is that once you get past all the fancy slogans and go into actual detail it falls apart and is revealed to be the pile of steaming dog crap it really is.

It's why when asked for benefits of brexit supporters of it usually can't give tangible benefits

Perhaps we need another general election and another referendum?

i still don't think it's a good idea to govern a country on a policy that is essentially 50/50

I’m a remain voter and would vote remain every single time of being asked but what do you want then?

Leave and remain is always close to 50/50 and last night showed that the swing to remain wasn’t enough.

You have to take a decision one way or the other and considering the last three years, despite the fact I believe it’s a bad decision, we need to go with the leave option and get it done.

If it is terrible after a period of time then we can start a rejoin campaign.

Conservatives won chip, doesn't change the fact that brexit is still crap mate.
I agree, but don't you think we've heard it enough? How many times does Bob have to tell us the same thing? Is 50 not enough?

We need to move on, and need to start thinking positively about it. It's happening and we can either mope around going on and on and on about how daft it is. Or we can get on with our lives and try to make the best of it

My opinion on bluemoon doesn't really make a difference to how we negotiate a trade deal mate, what will be will be. Having a positive outlook won't change the fact that we're going to be worse off because of brexit

I'm a brexiteer, but incredibly sad that a Tory majority is the price that we apparently need to pay to acheive it. I don't blame corbyn, I blame those that worked to frustrate the brexit result and process to the point they drove folk to hold their noses and vote for a Pm that a couple of years ago was considered too stupid to be invited on have I got news for you more than a couple of times :-(

More people voted for pro EU/Second Referendum parties than for Brexit parties.

Tory vote went up only marginally but the Labour vote fell away.

Corbyn is largely responsible for delivering victory to the most right wing Tory party in living memory.

For the sake of the country Labour needs to short its shit out but I can't say I'm hopeful in seeing that anytime soon.

Meanwhile we await the delights of another 5 years of Tory rule. More foodbanks anyone ?
