Why are you here to witness?

I've just been listening to Vince Cable on BBC News and he was surprisingly measured to be fair. He reckoned it would be at least 10 years before rejoining the EU could be raised, if then.
I’d say that and the rest.
Your TA deal negotiations will go on for years whether you have a hard or soft deal at the end of the year.
It will go on.

If you’re doing well, it goes without saying there will be no push to get back in. Four years to another GE would be too soon to judge definitely and if the Tories got in with another majority which looking at Labour currently, seems quite likely then it really isn’t likely that you would have another referendum within the next decade.

Really depends how well you do out of this. But that’s my opinion for what it’s worth.

For over three years it became more & more likely that Brexit would be thwarted by the Remain establishment blob so it feels strange that it has only been six weeks since the seismic election result and we are now out (almost).

Democracy has prevailed and we will see how it all turns out. If we all end up scavenging in the countryside grubbing potatoes to eat raw then it still will be the right thing as a majority voted to leave the EU in an in / out referendum. If subsequently there is a majority to rejoin the EU then that would have to be respected too.

Bi means two. This was Trump’s big idea. Bilateral trade deals only. Scrap NAFTA and do seperate deals with Mexico and Canada. Except both nations said no and individual States who benefited from NAFTA said no and...well long story short the bilateral deal died a death.

All trade blocs pool sovereignty. How much they pool depends on the amount of alignment. The more you align the more you can reduce trade barriers and then you need administration, rules and a judiciary to oversee and enforce rules. The deeper the alignment, the more you reduce barriers, the more you trade and the more you integrate and pool sovereignty.

Montgomerie should stick to promoting fanatical Christianity and sucking up to anti-semites in Hungary.
Yeah - between two countries or between a single country and a trade group or between two trade groups - a semantic irrelevance, it was just what was said. The point is there is absolutely no meaningful correlation between US-Canada-Mexico trading arrangements (or any other existing bloc) and the EU project and it is simply foolish to suggest the political relationships of the countries involved are the same.

Just watched five minutes of Brexit celebrations at a club in Morley on Sky TV.
Excruciatingly embarrassing.
I'm sure people said that about our Fourmidables celebrations, but hey ho, all depends where you aligiences lie, doesn't it.

It's a bit of light hearted fun. let people enjoy things.

Well you should, in fact if this bothers you now, why haven't you spoken against them before?
You aren't being selective in your outrage, I hope.

People are free to express themselves however they wish. I neither support nor condemn it, but approve and accept of their right to do so. When it comes to something, ike flag burning, you're either supportive of the action or you're against the action if it disrespects the causes you adhere to, which would make you a hypocrite. People can burn the Union Jack for all I care, it means nothing to me as I don't care for it nor would act in such a way. That's their opinion and it's one I don't share, but I respect their right to do it, same with burning the EU flag.

Nothing more.
Don’t believe I said it bothers me.
Neither did I say you condoning it or not mattered to me.
I merely asked the question did anyone fancy defending it. You have done so.

For the record, I’ll state my opinion of them again. Gobshites.

Flag burning is not what I have a problem with. It’s the meaningless triumphalism.
Triumphalism is something I have condemned before across more than one thread in the Political Forums if you care to check. If not. No matter.
Calling me hypocritical in this matter however is ill informed and not something I accept.

Find it odd you'd be mentioning it on a political thread on a football forum.

What that on brexit day, I am in brussels( pre planned long before it was the confirmed day) and that I mention that while some are at what I consider quite pathetic leave parties I am drinking with a people from around the globe.

It is relevant as for everyone who comments on being so happy at leaving I should be ble to counter how really sad it is to do so and small minded.

Great post except for your small minded comment. The Brexit folk are happy to leave and you as a remainer are sad to be going but then you go and follow through with a snipe. And so the abuse and misunderstanding that other people may just have an alternate view to your own continues. We are all different but do enjoy your evening. For the record as a Brexiteer I too enjoy a nice drink with Europeans and it's not just the preserve of a remainer ?

We've seen enough triumphalism in 2019 from the remainers.

it sucked for us, and i'm guessing this leaver triumphalism sucks for you, or you'd not be mentioning it.
Hopefully now you'll understand the message of moving on and coming together instead of retaining these tribal positions.
Don't worry, there are many reasonable leavers out there who share your view not to be too bombastic. We want unity, not Farage's brand of yah-boo-shucks-to-you.

I am fine leaving, the small minded comment is because, yeah you won we are leaving and fine, but stop acting like you won a war, we are still european, we are still allies, all that has changed(for a year at least) is we won't fly the EU flag anymore on public buildings but essentially nowt has changed on a personal level

No gloating from me as I know some people are dead against it. I will have a nice glass of red to celebrate what I think I will be incredible for our country.

That's only because your sat next to our beloved leader on the Spike plane and he has already espoused he will not engage with Brexit party-goers ever. I would wager right now you have a volovont stuffed in your mouth with a bottle of chateux de neuf de pap to follow though. Me I am taking no chances ..no sir-ee. If I get my Golden Wonka ticket to engage at an away game I want him running toward me in slow motion and bear hugging me to death.

48% of the country don't think it's funny
Fuck 'em.

Isn't that the 48%'s attitude towards the 52% tonight?

You can pick and choose your outrage but the truth is none of you have acted any better.

It's like Masked Singer. To some it's fun, to others it is banal and an example of the decay of TV entertainment. I'm in the former camp saying "let it alone, people find enjoyment in it." Same here.
