Indeed it was our choice and I do own it.

as for your bollox about in short you need something like the eu. Japan and Canada say hi .

And again neither of whom have frictionless trade with the EU. Both have substantial non tariff barriers. In fact on Canada "European exports to Canada have soared since CETA, but regulatory barriers still block trade in the other direction"

Not tariffs but regulatory barriers. Similar barriers that we will face under a basic FTA. To reduce barriers you need to align. The more you align the less the barriers. It’s a very simple equation.

indeed it is. I am not sure of the point you are making we are not in the eu anymore. It’s an obvious point.

politically you would not align your laws and regulations with a political bloc you are not part of. That is why those countries who have signed a trade deal with the eu do not and neither will we.

I can’t believe they are still campaigning to stay in the eu customs union and the single market

I’m not. I’m pointing out you can’t complain about the EU having barriers to trade when it is consequence of the actions we took.

It’s a simple premise that even Johnson has now grasped albeit it doesn’t stop him bitching about it.

We had all this on the NI border when there was a refusal to accept that leaving the SM and CU meant either a land border or a sea border. We had 18 months of Brexiteers insisting we could leave both and no border was necessary and that ‘Alternative Arrangements’ would work. What did we do in the end? Put up a sea border.

If you want to eliminate non tariff and regulatory barriers then you sign up to the EU model. Don’t sign up then you will have barriers. I don’t care which one you pick just don’t whine about the consequences.

Erm yes.
And trade will suffer to some extent as a result.
However the more we align the less it will suffer.

But Brexit isn't about the economy it's about freedom. That's right isn't it?

Then don’t whine about barriers to trade or the extra cost or the additional red tape.

I am not complaining about it , I am just pointing out the fact that it’s eu barriers.

I am responding to the whining.

I am perfectly aware of the position.

Strange isn't it.
I do wonder how the rest of the world operates when most don't have an FTA with the EU.

After all this, i'm looking west to America.

And most of us are happy at 98%

You guys still want 100

it’s you and your remain pack that are moaning and whining. I could not give a shit. It’s a fact that the barrier is an eu barrier.

the only moaning and whining I will do is if Boris accepts the eu outrageous proposal that now a condition to a deal that we now have left it’s a conditional a trade agreement that an independent sovereign state has to accept and follow the rules and laws (including its court) of a body it’s not part of.

you are ignoring trade with the rest of the world in your analysis . You are also underestimating just how much companies within the eu will want to trade with the uk and visa versa.

True. I'm only considering half our trade and I haven't done any estimates of just how much more business companies in the EU will want to do with us once we make it more difficult for them.

Get with it.
There's no such thing as a Remainer any more. We've left.

We probably need a new name. "People who value a healthy economy above intangible bullshit" maybe? Or a catchy word that means that.

I think a whole new routine wouldn't go amiss.

Audience walked out on this one years ago.

.......remainers on here was the actual answer but nice try.

I can’t remember the last time I moaned about it.

I’ve got more to worry about than Brexit, with IR35 changes and my biggest client being fucking bought by another company that has another supplier agreed!

If it’s not that it’s the Chinese eating bats and creating epidemics.

Thank god for that. I look forward to you never talking about tariff barriers and the natural consequences that follow when a country leaves a free trade bloc.

As for following another country or bloc’s rules and regs then Johnson either accepts it or he doesn’t. The more we accept, the lower the barriers and the more we trade. But for the record we have already conceded on the writ of the ECJ running in NI, the new protocols and on State Aid on UK businesses that intersect with NI in the WA. EU also have the right to have personnel at GB ports to oversee the protocols. EU citizens already residing in the UK are also under the protection of the ECJ. If I recall we have even signed up to the EU patents system which is overseen by the ECJ.
