Fuck sake. Stop tagging me you pillock. Just done an online quiz with some friends and had a takeaway. And it’s you’re not your.

In answer to your point, there was a single vote for Brexit in 2016 where 52% voted to Leave. That was the only poll where the overall result was based on the popular vote. The popular vote for Brexit supporting parties in the three elections you have listed was between 45% and 48%. However as you’re well aware, the largest party in each of those polls was a Brexit supporting party. That’s how our democracy works; the largest party wins. It doesn’t mean a majority of the electorate voted for Brexit.

And that’s ignoring the fact that in the two GEs, it can’t be assumed that Brexit was the driving factor as it was a whole manifesto and leadership that were voted for, and like it or not Brexit may well have not been the biggest factor when people made their choice. So as I said, Brexit won one referendum. The rest is all your opinion.
This is actually a very good reply/explanation. Unfortunately it's irrelevant.

Not to the posters who don't engage on the substance of issues now but resort to "we won, you lost".
Someone mentioned this thread now being irrelevant, and I agree.
It's now over, the last chance dance about extending transition is a thank
you and goodnight waltz.

Not to the poster who asked me to explain this 5 times while I was eating a takeaway. Presumably he couldn’t argue with it because he’s not been back to discuss it.

As for its irrelevance in general, it doesn’t seem to be to those that keep saying that Brexit won 4 votes, when the reality is that it won the only one that mattered, and the government then ignored the clear evidence from the other three votes that it was not still supported by a majority and is currently leading us in a direction supported only by the Brexit zealots.

Absolutely, but it still doesn't matter.

In other news Rees Moggs company made over £103 million profit in 2018 -2019 and paid no tax.

Wonder why there is so much urgency over Brexit?

Presumably to avoid tax? Also, because it's dragged on for nearly four years and in fairness to mogg I'm sure he'd have been happy to leave in 2016.

The UK isn't included in the EU's plan to restart tourism launched today, which includes this interactive map with info about where Europeans can go on holiday. Commission says that's because the UK didn't ask to take part, but it's still welcome to do so. Norway and Switzerland will be added later.’ @Sun

That will be great news for the Brexit zealots.

I have been saying all along that No Deal is unpopular - and that is before it even happens with half the country in denial.

Johnson has backed himself in a corner and no deal seems like an option to get out when its just doubling down on his problems. It will cost a load of money that will be entirely wasted and he will have to go straight back into talks with he EU to get a deal from an even weaker position.

I've said before he wont last 6 months once no deal has been fully implemented - the only ambiguity is I don't see how he can implement it. The cost will be obscene and the disruption to peoples lives and businesses will be completely unacceptable, he has already suggest a 6 month delay on implementation at ports - even that is not going to work.

Yeah but the ERG and their backers want it - I mean really want it

"I don't think we're actually that far apart but what we need now is to see a bit of oomph in the negotiations," Johnson said, adding that he had told the EU's top representatives that there was a need to "put a tiger in the tank" of the talks.

On the principle espoused on here (re Barnier's speech last week) that if you are in a good position you don't need to say anything, this must surely go down as "blinking".

Best riposte from the EU so far: Tiger in the tank, oui, but a pig in a poke, non.

Did the tiger eat the oven ready deal?

Unless a deal is reached, the 6 month implementation delay could be catastrophic for us because we would immediately be in breach of WTO MFN rules which could potentially open up the UK to tariff free imports from everywhere in the world without any necessity for reciprocation for our exports.

If we don't collect tariffs at the point and time of entry, what chance of collecting them later?
