Its just not economically viable im afraid. Too few net contributors too keep up with its expansion into southern and eastern Europe. Apart from that I'm sure the 'clapometer' social survey is quite correct.

Yep - 'clapometer' is a good way of describing it.

Remainers quickly demonstrating that they have not been / are not aware of discussions that have been taking place within the EU for years already

The evidence that Brexit is going to be shit is only going to mount from here. Either way (last minute deal or no deal) it's going to be shit and I'm not expecting any or our resident brexiteers to ever acknowledge it. It will only ever not be true or someone else's fault.

The ‘European’ countries have not existed for ‘hundreds of years’ both Italy (under Garibaldi) and Germany (under Bismarck) are relatively young countries to name but two.

So we're in this mess because of a one-off (non-binding) clapometer exercise in June 2016...

Nearly as sad as those 1970's 'in' voters who thought their jobs at British Leyland would be saved. Rather predictably all the economic woes created by covid will now be laid at the door of brexit by cynical bitter remainers in an attempt to be 'right'. Utterly transparent.
