even if the people of Ireland on both sides of the border were content with the status quo until we knackered it up with our indifference and forced the issue.

I was content with the Indy Ref decision in 2014 and fondly imagined we were would build upon it, and the promises made during the campaign, and strengthen our Union. Unfortunately we decided to knacker that up as well with Brexit and our indifference to devolved sensibilities.

Apparently it’ll be fine as Gove says it’s a ‘worst case scenario’. Not only that, but he goes on to say that they’ve planned for it, as any responsible government must.
Given how well they’d planned for ‘the most likely‘ threat to public health, in the form of a novel virus (and given that they’d had an exercise only 3 years ago which highlighted all the deficiencies), what could possibly go wrong??

13% of the U.K. fishing quota is in foreign ownership, which doesn’t sound too bad. However, the English fishing quotas have been hived off at the rate of about 55%, the a Welsh is almost 100%, with the Scots at twice the catch of England having only 5% foreign owned. The idea that we can take these quotas back is fanciful and the fact the English fishermen have sold them, with no government intervention, is why the position is as it is. The French and the Scots actively discourage ’quota hopping’ whereas our being in thrall to the free market doesn’t. The government want more fish allocated to the U.K. in the quota but it’ll just mean that the current owners will buy more. They want more fish landed in Blighty but, as we export most of it, we will have to pay extra for landing fees, shipping costs and truck pollution. Its almost like they’ve no idea what they’re doing......

I suspect the walk away option will be the privilege of the likes of Stanley Johnson and all the Jonson clan. Nigel's Lawson and Farage and JRM all those who have secured an exit strategy when it is all declared shit in the New Year. What other reason could there be for the Clown to want to stand down in 6 months? He never faces up to what he has done.
