even if the people of Ireland on both sides of the border were content with the status quo until we knackered it up with our indifference and forced the issue.
Who do you see as 'we'?I was content with the Indy Ref decision in 2014 and fondly imagined we were would build upon it, and the promises made during the campaign, and strengthen our Union. Unfortunately we decided to knacker that up as well with Brexit and our indifference to devolved sensibilities.
Government plays down a report which they commissioned.
Imagine having to play down the potential consequences of an entirely voluntary course of action.

Apparently it’ll be fine as Gove says it’s a ‘worst case scenario’. Not only that, but he goes on to say that they’ve planned for it, as any responsible government must.
Given how well they’d planned for ‘the most likely‘ threat to public health, in the form of a novel virus (and given that they’d had an exercise only 3 years ago which highlighted all the deficiencies), what could possibly go wrong??
Only if the Navy finds them in the wrong plaice. But at least the Navy will be blowing up French fishermen eh?

I’m beginning to think our credible walk away option isn’t quite as credible as the EU’s.The UK government is set to start work on a Brexit compensation scheme for sheep producers, to offset the impact of losing tariff-free access to the EU market in the event of a no-deal Brexit.

13% of the U.K. fishing quota is in foreign ownership, which doesn’t sound too bad. However, the English fishing quotas have been hived off at the rate of about 55%, the a Welsh is almost 100%, with the Scots at twice the catch of England having only 5% foreign owned. The idea that we can take these quotas back is fanciful and the fact the English fishermen have sold them, with no government intervention, is why the position is as it is. The French and the Scots actively discourage ’quota hopping’ whereas our being in thrall to the free market doesn’t. The government want more fish allocated to the U.K. in the quota but it’ll just mean that the current owners will buy more. They want more fish landed in Blighty but, as we export most of it, we will have to pay extra for landing fees, shipping costs and truck pollution. Its almost like they’ve no idea what they’re doing......But at least the Navy will be blowing up French fishermen eh?
But Frost is a professional and knows what he's doing. I'm sure I read that somewhere.Barnier laughing at us - Frosty the Showman is telling him if we don't get our way he will cut his own nose off and that will show the EU that we mean it............
