Australian deal = No deal. They are trying to tart it up!

And blame remainers for the shitshow we face. Seems that because we didn't get behind the referendum result 100% ( when the likes of Farage said had it cone the other way he would have fought on )- its ludicrous because had remain won none of this shit would have happened

June last year

December last year

100% of the trade deal sorted? Because we already have a trade deal? Yet he knew they wanted to dismantle it. Whatever you expected from Brexit can anyone excuse this lying shit?
(Johnson I mean).

This is one of those occasions where you tell people the deal is done and fine without worrying about the future.

He’s blatantly lied through his back teeth and used confirmation bias last year.

That said, if the EU are trying their luck and infringing on Britain being independent, at this point, we should tell them to fuck off.

I thought the Mail was bad...how the fuck are we going to guard fucking fish?

With gunships. It says that in the article! Keep up.

OUR Fish won't dare swim away from her majesty's finest military vessals.

Do you think they'll salute our boats individually, each fish raising a pectoral fin? Or will they form a shape as a shoal?

20000 haddock, assembling unprompted into the shape of a Spitfire. That'd be something to see!

That’s part of the Festival of Brexit closing ceremony.

Given that a critisism of voting for brexit is that it is often described as an act of wilful self-harm I find it a bit strange that you would actively wish for the worst possible outcome for the country you live in just so you can be 'right' and describe this as 'fun'. It's a little like a flat earther hoping their ship falls off the edge of earth and into space just to prove their point. I actually hope for the best for both the UK and the EU, but at least you are not afraid to be honest I suppose.
I have pointed out for years that there are some on this forum that would clearly have an active desire for there to be bad outcomes for the UK and their citizens - just so long as they get to feel that they have won an argument on a football forum

When posting that opinion I have received pelters - but it was of course right

As the end of the process draws near and they are not getting what they want - the masks start to slip

I think the more telling argument other than bobs hope for misery so he can say he was right on a football forum

is if he believes brexit is going to be a total shit show and really bad for the uk and it’s citizens and businesses ...

why is it that the major sticking point in the negotiations is that the EU are insisting on us mirroring their own reg and regulations and restricting our state aid and we must have a level playing field Because they don’t want the uk to have a competitive advantage over the eu on its doorstep.

what are the eu so scared of? If we are going to be fucked and a basket case why the need to restrict us? The truth is they don’t want the uk to succeed and fear it will do so hence this sticking point.

anyway I have given up posting on this thread as it’s boring but I do find this paradox interesting.
When I consider this very obvious - but generally denied, aspect:

"....what are the eu so scared of? If we are going to be fucked and a basket case why the need to restrict us? The truth is they don’t want the uk to succeed and fear it will do so hence this sticking point."

I have in mind how close the UK came to a really bad outcome with May as PM.

She would not only have hamstrung the UK for generations with her acceptance of the unfettered backstop - she would have slavishly implemented an EU drafted PD and thereby lock in the UK to the role or vassal state in perpetuity.

When you say:

"....anyway I have given up posting on this thread...."

You are in common with a lot of posters - particularly those not anti-Brexit - and I say that whilst accepting that by actively resisting the echo chamber that some have wished to make the thread, I have contributed to it becoming boring.

To be fair, that’s why we have a parliament. Normally we vote for a manifesto. The challenge we’ve had since before the referendum is that neither of the main parties have had a fully aligned position within themselves, there’s factions in both of them.
Indeed - that is why we have a parliament and the vast majority of policy decisions are made by parliament following a party being elected based on a manifesto.....

And an arrangement, holding a referendum, has been established so that, on the rare occasion, that it is deemed that advice is needed on a key question to confirm the wish of the electorate they can do so.

One such occasion was 1975 when the electorate advised that the UK should continue its membership of the EC.

a 2nd occasion was, following 41 years of increased and increasing levels of integration which saw the established trading bloc be evolved towards a fully integrated and supranational organisation, was in 2016 when the electorate advised that the UK should not continue its membership of the EU

Simple facts - and I would just add that behaviours observed following each would suggest that Leavers are significantly more tolerant and accepting of the views of others and the outcomes of democratically arrived at decisions

Just trying that now. started at 17.40pm and i'm upto the bit where it says 'further detail available in 2020' with regard to which country i may need a permit for. 17.46pm

update; 17.58. Govuk has sent me to the post office page. Still not sure if i need one yet.
Took me 10mins in the Post Office - and I am just a thick Leave supporter

Perhaps the saddest thing about all this, is that if it is a no deal brexit then we could have achieved this by doing article 50 straight after the referendum and got out in summer 2018. We'd have been over any initial 'shock' by the time covid hit and there would have been no need to elect the current PM. Instead we've spent four years fannying about and all the extra 24 months seems to have got us is a pandemic and Boris.

Yep.... but that wouldn't have given them enough time to line the pockets of their donor mates
