Do people realise that people arriving in boats aren’t doing so to them turn up at an asylum centre?

How can anyone, argue against the government stopping them, working out whether they are genuine asylum seekers, if they are then offer asylum, if not, return them to where they have migrated from?

Surely that’s the process everyone should support and even if you don’t, let’s not pretend holding that view is akin to that witch Hopkins suggesting we shoot them.

Tbh the hotel thing doesn't bother me. Asylum Centres all sound a bit 3rd reich for me and I suspect during covid these hotel bookings are keeping the hotels from going bust. It's genuinely hard to tread a decent line between completely open borders and something inhumane. Also, the people we would wish to keep out don't come with a big neon sign over their heads, but are concealed within the streams of legit refugees.

I'll try and condense this into something simple to understand......

Give Asylum seekers a legal , safe route through which to apply and then enter the UK if asylum is granted. That then gives you the 'right' to patrol the waters and stop any economic migrants entering the UK because they are not covered under the UN Conventions (mind you they don't cost us anything because they can't claim anything ... they don't have a National Insurance number you see... but on the reverse of that they don't contribute Tax or National Insurance)

But to be honest .... Asylum seekers are not a big problem . There were 44835 in the UK in 2019 compared to 165615 in Germany, 128940 in France, 117795 in Spain , 77275 in Greece.

We had less Asylum applications (not all granted) than we have had deaths due to Covid19. .... but hey lets focus on immigrants.

I completely agree with you.

I’m really not particularly bothered about the numbers coming and I think the media have blown it out of proportion, as per usual.

I just challenged someone using the narrative of saying we shouldn’t be stopping people entering illegally.

But if you cant tell the difference? This is what the traffickers are doing , mixing the illegal with the genuine.... and the Tories narrative isn't helping.

They are just fueling hatred and xenophobia and they are doing it deliberately.

Stop them and process them accordingly, and show some humanity whilst you’re doing it.

The Tories haven’t really been the issue, they’re taking stick from some in the media and that prick Farage for not doing enough.

Although they were probably glad, as 500-900 deaths per day had a momentary replacement in the headlines.

She is certainly very good for her age. Wiki says she has 7 children. Are they all hers or are some step children? Remarkable figure if she has had 7 children. Child bearing usually takes a toll on the figure. I've only had 1and that was bad enough, lol.

I think Wiki mixed her up with Ursula von Trapp

To be honest mate ... the people we should be worrying about .. arrive in private Jets ... not dinghies.

it was all about immigration don’t you know.
Of course it was - silly me. Four years is a long time and one does tend to forget ones previous racist motivations at the ballot box. Thanks for the reminder, I think wearing my KKK outfit and setting fire to crosses in the garden affects my memory at times.

More people means more taxes to pay for public spending.

Who do you think is going to pay for your pension? The birthrate is falling rapidly. The damage from Brexit will be yet another reason not to bring children into the world (and I am serious).

And more public spending needed. And more homes and more roads and more....... etc

I don't want increased population full stop so it's not a point that will make me waver I'm afraid. Economics is down my list of priorities.

The liberal left like free movement, free movement is not immigration.

The Socialist left would create more public sector jobs because we need more nurses, police, doctors, armed forces, firemen, ambulance drivers, paramedics, you know all the jobs that help a society prosper.

Yes it is brilliant for employers, so is free movement. It is a neo liberal haven, which is why we nee to leave the EU to stop free movement, control immigration and still honour our obligations on asylum.

Yes they did, which is why Labour veering to the right will never get elected.

It needs a Socialist party that will put the working class first.

Your best chance of a socialist govt is the collapse of the current one. I want both the EU and the UK electoral system rid of. The only thing I can do is vote on that basis which I do.

One person one vote. I would vote green and leave again tomorrow. I have no problem with my decision.

I'm a fan of voting in what you believe in.

Presumably because post brexit we won't be tied to the EU's inherently racist 'freedom of movement' which excludes the generally non-white non-EU immigrant.
Never understood why we have to have freedom of movement, yes have the ability to work in any country as long as there is a job for you, I’d like nothing more than to fuck off to Canada but guess what I need a job offer first

The UK never subscribed to Freedom of movement mate ... thats Schengen Zone . We only subscribed to Freedom of Movement of labour.

but failed to police it properly .
