Then open safe routes to ensure they can arrive without risk of death to themselves or their children.

More encouragement you mean? I would personally do it in France with their co operation and if the claims were proven valid then travel could be arranged.

Although those turned down would then give money to traffickers and make the hazardous trip anyhow.

And then posters on here would be complaining again.

How are they settling in at your place by the way?

Why would they? If they’ve already been turned down then they would either have to try and claim asylum in France or be deported. Remember they’d be in the system already.

If they wish to settle in the UK for reasons such as family or community connections I see no reason not to encourage it. It’s preferable to families drowning in the channel.

Looks like Paddy Power are though - they're offering odds of 1-3 with the following rules:

"Yes" will be settled as a winner if the UK and EU officially announce that
they have agreed a trade deal, either sector by sector or complete deal, before end of 2020.
But will they pay out on No Deal as well if the deal doesn't kick in on 1 Jan?
I'm guessing not.

Who do you decide gets safe routes?

The old dear was seen browsing a discarded Daily Mail paper during the flight:-)

Probably not but I was looking at it more from a Deal side and whether they would pay out if a deal is agreed in 2020 but not necessarily implemented in 2020 and according to what I posted they will. In any case, my original post was pointing out how drastically the odds have moved compared to 24 hours ago and how I've missed the boat in not lumping on when the odds were higher.

Put what back to the country?

We can't 'remain' we can only rejoin, and that opens an enormous bag of requirements, namely joining the Eurozone and adopting the Euro, something that the majority of British business is wholly opposed to.

Our relationship, opt-outs and arrangements we had with the EU are gone, never to return.
Never is a long time.

Agree that is an issue - for Boris to sell this to the ERG he has to ramp maximum pressure and defuse any notion that holding out would have improved the terms. It wouldnt suprise me if BJ asks the EU to give something in the first week of Jan...something they possible offered back in September....Its pantomime politics of the highest order.

I bet you really really want that last bit to be true.
