Leavers have spoken about the 'ideology' of the EU leaders and the drive for a 'United States of Europe' construct

Of course much derided by Remainers who maintain that concerns over eventual integration are just scare stories.

Thought this was an interesting way for Barnier to refer to the EU?

"On fishing, Mr Barnier said if the UK wants to use its "sovereignty" over its waters to cut access for EU fisherman, "then the European Union also has to maintain its sovereign right to react or compensate adjusting conditions [to access the] single market".

And on the level playing field, he said there needed to be "fair competition" in place, adding: "If the sovereign United Kingdom would like to depart from those standards, that is their right, but it brings with it consequences when it comes to access to our markets without tariffs or quotas."

No - nothing to see - EU members are all fully Sovereign and have just agreed to do a bit of 'pooling' - they are all also equally influential;-)

She tried to stop the government invoking Article 50 by going to the Courts to insist on parliamentary scrutiny and won, in the hope that parliament would decide not to implement article 50. Parliament decided that not to follow Article 50, after a referendum, was a step too far so they did it anyway. She also pushed on the porogation to the point that parliament couldn't string Boris along any longer, resulting in an election which gave Boris the majority to push something through, and at least have some negotiating position.

If her actions mean that the UK can't approve a deal quickly if the chance comes, and as a result we leave with no deal, I don't think she'll be taking the credit.

Your options here are essentially to carry on believing this uninformed horseshit you’ve written or you can actually look into why what the government was doing on both occasions was illegal and was declared to be so by the highest court in the land.

I suspect I know which one you’ll choose.

Twelve days to Brexit and the Govt promised me :)

* Ferries blockaded by fishing boats

* Medicines and critical supplies stuck in traffic jams

*Criminal gangs hijacking vaccines.

Yes, Inside Operation Capstone, civil service's ultimate stress-test exercise for no-deal! Merry Christmas!

‘EU members are Sovereign’.

Is the correct answer.

I thought this was quite a good answer (I'd forgotten some of the detail tbh) which bit/bits are 'horseshit'?

I suppose the idea of 'wargaming' / stress testing is based upon the worsed possible scenario in every sense rather than the likely one. We can probably calm down and not be too worried about our imports of fanny wipes being blocked.

You wanna point out where i've ever said UC is too low?

A single person can go on a foreign jaunt for very little cost. Even if they're on the dole. Holidays are not 'for the elite' and nobody, well me at least, is doing any 'sneering'
Do you not think Universal Credit is an issue then? Do you think it’s a resounding success and the government deserve a pat on the back for it?

A foreign trip isn’t for the elite, certainly not, but I cannot fathom how the lowest 10% of earners can possibly afford to go, especially anyone on Universal Credit taking 5/6 trips.

Who's 'mocking' anyone? More lies.
It’s happening throughout this thread.

The whole tone is patronising towards him and it’s as if you’re saying “even my mates on the dole can afford to go away”.

The majority of people in poverty in this country are working.

I thought as an anti Tory you’d know that and realise there are many struggling that cannot afford holidays.

What’s made up?

Why is everything them vs us?

I am a remainer and think Brexit is chaos, I just don’t see MB as an enemy and someone to attack 24/7.
I think if you tell people that going abroad on a holiday "reeks of privilege" you should expect some negative responses. Most of the people who drove Brexit would call it the politics of envy.

(Don't make me post examples from the thread...)

Moaning about having to get a stamp to go away or to queue in a separate queue does reek of privilege.

I couldn’t give two shits about that. I care about the economy collapsing, which it might if the tossers don’t pull their fingers out and get a deal.

I don’t think sneering at someone who thinks it’s a privilege to go on holiday is a good thing and if that person was a remainer and Labour voter you’d be calling the government a disgrace for inequality.

I just think there needs to be consistency.

Good to hear these things are being scenario-tested

But - WTF - Mid-December 2020!!!

I and others were saying 4 years ago that the No-Deal planning should have been a priority - but we had the hapless May in charge

FFS Remainers have been displeased with the UK government competence since 2016 - Leavers have a lot more reason to be pissed off IMO

Anyway, at least it looks like we are going to get a genuine Brexit after all - which was way beyond my expectations 4 years ago and certainly 2 years ago

So - HNY ahead - even if there are a few months of inconveniences.

I'll answer your questions when you show me where i;ve said UC is too low.

Here are your posts from the universal credit thread.

The first link you posted shows people with poverty being turned away, the middle obviously about a government admin error and the latter about how difficult it is on UC and the minimum wage.

Where’s the consistency, are they fair game if they voted leave?

Do you think the HMRC losing 2,000,000 peoples NI records had anything to do with that?

One of your best posts TwoGun.
I didn't watch the program but do know several people who found themselves out of work, through no fault of their own, after grafting for 50 years. I see them trudging through the rain to get to the nearest job centre 3 miles away to 'prove they've been looking for work. I see them going to minimum wage nightshift jobs and the life slowly draining out of them.
