Anyone genuinely think we are getting the Brexit that was promised?
We were promised leave. It was vague though.

As it happens and as a person who thinks we should leave i have come to the conclusion this morning that because of "events" it needs to be postponed.

At the moment we are heading into the perfect storm and the rational me says, take a step back, lets get this horrible covid thing over and done with first. Lives are more important than political desires/outcomes.

You really have not need to keep reaffirming your lack of understanding of negotiations

And there you go again - twisting the words of others

I have never said that the UK 'has the upper hand' or could ever establish having the upper hand

What I have said - and I only post it again because you seem to have forgotten and are misquoting me is:

"We will not see movement from the EU unless and until they are faced with the prospect of a viable walk-away option – and the political will to use it”

And this has of course been proven to be true throughout 2020 - as soon as there was realisation that there would not be an extension
I thought the whole point of negotiations was to do a deal - unless you never really wanted a deal. It seems you don't want a deal, because the EU has not moved ("not an inch" - IDS), but think that lack of movement somehow proves the efficacy of your mantra.

What movement exactly did you expect / do you expect? So far all I can see is that you supported a three / five year extension of fishing rights (movement by the UK) and I'm not sure where that idea has gone. The problem is not that I'm trying to twist your words - it's just that there are so many of them, and so few of them are about stuff that's specific, measurable, achievable, relevant or time limited.

Spain now banning all entrants from the UK except Spanish Nationals returning home - whats up with them all? Acting like sovereign nations and controlling their borders?

I mean why bother mention it? Apart for the lols :)

New Brexit deadline: Midnight on Wednesday’ @ChannelFour

I heard Shapps this morning saying it was ok because its mostly foreign owned lorries trying to deliver goods into the UK and EU lorries on our side returning home so they are hurting themselves more than they are us.......

Stupid fucker. So all the people waiting for parcels, or stock or just in time deliveries of car parts are not being inconvenienced in the slightest then !

All bases covered in that mantra mate. EU moves - I was right. No deal because we exercised our 'viable walk-away option – and the political will to use it” - I was right, good.

Just in case you missed that: whatever happens. I was right, I foresaw it years ago.

Why cant you miserable remainers not think strategically for once!

Hopefully this can be resolved quickly. Reuters reporting...

France aims to establish Europe-wide sanitary protocol measures "in the coming hours" to allow the resumption of traffic flows with the United Kingdom, transport minister Jean-Baptiste Djebbari said on Monday.’
fuckin' French eh....?

^joke-= with a little dig

I doubt you could find a single post from a single poster that states that the UK had/has the upper hand in these negotiations - clearly the EU has been in the stronger position

Some of us though do not feel the need to belittle the UK and wish for harm for the UK just so they can feel all self-satisfied by convincing themselves that they have scored some sort of point on a football forum

Yet here you are, on a football forum...

Which if course has not been proven to be true at all as both sides entered negotiations and despite some apparent foot stamping on both sides they remain i n negotiations and whatever deal is achieved will be as a result of continued negotiations. You really have to wonder about someone who feels so strong a need to score a point on a football forum.

I wonder, is this the low point, the perfect storm of the virus and brexit? Its the winter solstice so every day from now gets a little longer and a little brighter. Please god we will see improvements from here, maybe a deal can still be salvaged that protects from the worst disruption. The Oxford vaccine should be authorised any day and hopefully a massively accelerated rollout. I really cant remember feeling so low about the state of the nation. Someone say something positive. Anything.

No point asking God ;-)

Look on the bright side. As I said on the FTSE thread, a crashing stock market is a perfect buying opportunity. There will be a few bargains over the next few days.
