So I am on my way out of the south stand today when I realised I had left the latest issue of king of the kippax in a plastic bag under my seat. I literally had one foot out of the exit so quickly about turned to return and get it. I was immediately clotheslined across my chest with some force by a female steward snarling I couldn't go back in once I had left. I think my momentum and the force she thrust her arm out, meaning i was hit with some power shocked her as she quickly apologised for hitting me but said she couldn't let me back in. I replied that was ridiculous, I had left something under my seat it would take me seconds to go and get it. No I was not allowed back in! Luckily for me the head steward, the rasta guy who is a decent chap, overruled her but had to escort me back to my seat and wait, then ensure I left.

What the fuck is it with stewards and treating football fans, who are paying customers by the way, like some sort of criminal to be shoved and denied a simple request to return and get something they have left behind? Who makes up such a stupid rule anyway? I get you can't have loads of fans traipsing back into the stadium willy nilly but surely common sense should be applied when someone has forgotten something? She didn't know what I had left and wasn't interested, it was she had her orders and no way was I going back in. Kudos to the head steward for showing some common sense but I was still treated as if I was doing something wrong. He even said, " I have had a word Barbara" as I left. Going to a game these days is like being a visitor to a cat A prison!

Modern day bullshit I'm afraid. No one can think for themselves.

Its fucking madness mate. On Tuesday 1,500 fans are dismantling and throwing seats and plastic bottles at our fans but no one does Scooby doo. Today myself, not a youngster, polite and reasonable and a long time season ticket holder can't go and retrieve something I had forgotten. Why do they want to alienate loyal long standing fans with these stupid rules and attitudes? Probably to replace us with the stupid tourist fans causing disruption by celebrating the Wolves goal in a City end!

Bullies.

they only pick on those who won’t fight back.

Luckily for both of us she was a late fifties at least steward and she got her apology out quickly. If it had been a young male my reaction might have been quite a bit different. Either way it was an overreaction on her part and assault. All I was doing was going to retrieve something I had forgotten, I had no idea this wasn't allowed. It was obvious I had been to the game, indeed I probably had one foot outside when I turned to go back I hadn't even fully left. This stupid draconian attitude which seems to increase every game is starting to alienate long standing fans.

This. At the Academy stadium, my keys fell out of my pocket when leaving and when i realised literally as soon as left the stadium, i was unable to go back in and pick them up, even though i could see them 20 yards away! That's not the most ridiculous thing about the situation. The steward was unable to leave his post to retrieve them so i had to shout to someone to pick them up for me and wait till he left the stadium gates. It must be a health and safety criteria at stadiums and events as i have seen similar at gigs and even the theatre.

Last ladies home game I went to on a Sunday they had one male steward checking bags and one female steward doing the wanding. There were literally hundreds of people queueing to get in.

I’ll be honest with you I don’t class stewards as anything . They are not ob and are the same as me . I just tell them we’re to get off

Its another example of health and safety gone mad. Now I can understand why some bright sparks thought this a good idea in principle. They can't have thousands of people going back into a stadium as thousands of other's are trying to leave. Perfect sense. But come on, how often does this happen? Once people are on their way out their mind is made up they are leaving. Only miraculous comebacks like the Gillingham game and the Aguero moment might get a sudden rush of people trying to get back in and we all know if that happens they aren't stopping anybody, just like pitch invasions. If a couple of individuals have lost or forgotten something just let them go and retrieve it! You are probably talking half a dozen people a game maximum. On another note what if someone has a sudden attack of the shits and needs the toilet desperately? What do they want them to do, shit themselves, or drop their trousers and do it outside the ground? Common sense has to.prevail.

Correct, but get involved in an altercation with one and you will be refused entry, banned or in the worst case scenario arrested.
