Yes, and it does need improovement but neither arteta or pienaar are the right men to do it. Arteta is slow, can't beat a man and doesn't score enough goals. Pienaar works hard that is it and is 28. There are soo many better YOUNGER players that would make such a greater difference.

With all due respect, you are talking out of your arse. Arteta is much better than any midfielder presently on our books. Indeed, only Fabregas is better than him in the league right now.

Gareth barry is better than arteta and Ireland is aswell.

Everton's success has been from playing tight boring defensive football with the whole team working hard. I really hope we don't end up like that.

I am so surprised by how many people on this forum talk about players in their late 20s as being too old. 28 is absolutely a peak age for a player, of course we want some younguns and maybe even the odd older head but ideally you would have a fair chunk of the team at their peak stage of their career, surely? Please can people stop saying we shouldn't sign players on the basis of them being 28! Also please name these much younger players who would make a much greater difference than Arteta? I know it is all opinions but personally I think Arteta is a wonderful player. From what we saw of Barry last season, I would say Arteta is tons better, although very different players tbf. Ireland may be as good as Arteta on his day but I know which one I would rather rely on currently.
