The lack of inclusion for Manu Garcia in these pre season friendlies is a huge worry. I don't want to presume but I'd wager that maybe Pep just doesn't rate him?
Imo he has never lived up to his ability so far, but he really does have ability, so it could happen at any time. No guarantees though. So having another top prospect amongst the 19 year age group wouldn't be a bad thing. A lot of our mids are getting older & will all need replacing, or at least to play less games in the future.

The problem we've had since the takeover is this policy of having two senior players for every position. Obviously it's a good thing in terms of having a strong squad, but it means you have to give everyone games to keep them happy, meaning you have to spend the League Cup playing the likes of Bony and Delph instead of the youngsters. One of the reasons why Pep might have a good record with youngsters is that he prefers to use a smaller squad with players who can play multiple positions. If we get Stones, for example, he can cover right back and probably DM too, meaning one buy can probably replace Zaba and Sagna when they leave.I never said they wern't ready. But there were quite a few games in the cups where we ended up not using them to the extent we should have.

Lopes is now playing for Monaco and according to French mate of mine has been pretty average so was sent out on loan. I bow to your superior knowledge of them whilst both in our EDS though as I didn't see enough of either of them to form a proper opinion.
